I'm looking to replace the 2 piece splash guard that came on my 2016 Trd offroad. I'd like to put a factory trd offroad skid plate. Will the current generation fit my truck?
The one that will fit (ptr6035160) is discontinued.
I'm open to other suggestions but they must come with mounting hardware as some of mine is missing.
    Thanks in advance.

Well yes that's the newer version. I cannot get a straight answer if it will fit my 2016 tacoma.

I have the TRD skid plate on my 2020 OR. I’m almost positive all 3rd gens (2016+) are identical as far as fitment. It’s a nice upgrade over the splash guard and an easy install.

500 bucks for that factory skid? Might as well get nice aftermarket ones

There are many. Most have a stronger design than the TRD skid plate, but generally there is a long lead time and the install is slightly more complicated. The price was about the same when I bought my skid plate (~$400). Aluminum is significantly more expensive than steel, so make sure you are comparing apples to apples.

Yeah I was hoping to find something in stock ready to go. My current splash guard is in bad shape and needs replacement.

Ya that was the deal breaker for me. I like instant gratification. I waited 5 long months for my rock sliders. At the time I bought the TRD skid plate, I didn’t understand the design differences between it and the aftermarket choices. They bolt directly to the frame instead of using the long spacers that the TRD skid plate uses. So far it hasn’t failed me, but I somewhat regret not being patient and getting an aftermarket skid plate.

Lots of options. Go aftermarket and as local as possible. Support USA made products especially in today's world. Pony up and do not go Chinese knock off.

Side note. When I got mine I went to my dealer and got the OEM for 325.
