5th is totally fine. It's the constant downshifting to 4th when its completely unnecessary, that pisses me off. This specific shifting behavior might be a make/break deal for me, whether I keep the Tacoma or just dump it. Highway trips and gas mileage are are terrible.

While I agree with much of what you said, he's not doing it for free. This is an official product, not open source. There should be an expectation when you charge $770 for something. I think he realizes this, which is why he is so cool about things. He knows it's a business. I'm both a software consultant and an open source developer. I expect and entertain a certain level of crap from paying customers, but I expect a very different response to things I give away for free. But yes, THANK YOU!

I have a question I haven't seen clearly answered since I joined the board. How are new tune versions delivered? Does everyone that has purchased the tune have to do another email dance? Is it automatically sent? Is a generic download link provided?

You will download them via the new Flash manager that will be released with 1.05...no more e-mail dance.

The roads will stay the same with or without the tax. It has been raised before to "fix" roads etc, but seems they are just as bad. Besides, even if the tax is repealed, the gas prices will probably stay the same.

Seatbelt mike should put Matt in charge of tuning everything. Give him the fleet and let him go nuts

Totally agree. Drive by a sign where they are doing “road work” and you see 4 guys standing around and one down in a hole. Pretty ridiculous. Also the governor spent millions of road repair dollars on a bullet train that goes nowhere because it isn’t finished and we won’t waste anymore money on it.

While the tune really helped, I am still not super happy with my truck. Still shifts too much going up a hill. First it unlocks the converter.. shifts down.. great.. but wait there's more! Shifts down again.. alright cool...NOPE shift right back up....oh wait that isn't right I need to shift down again....alright all good... wait nevermind I need the next gear up.. ehh not quite I want to shift down again.
Throttle response is great I will say that. If I lived in a less hilly area I would be set for life. Ovtune is exactly how the truck should have been. They should have made the truck with 4.30s from the factory with the auto and a 5 speed. What it currently has just makes it too shift happy.

I know all about that. On a Saturday morning, on my way to the store, they have one lane on both sides of the busiest highway in the entire state closed for about a mile. I drive past all of the workers, none doing any work whatsoever. Almost as if the lane was closed just for the hell of it. Then about an hour later I’m on my way home and there they are, same spot, sitting on their tailgates playing on their phones

In Ga, you pay a one-time 7% AD Valorem tax on the retail value of a vehicle when you register it...then just $30 in tags every year. So on a $40K truck that's an additional $2800 bill. What really sucks is it not only applies to the registration of a new vehicle, but ALL first time private registrations of vehicles...so if you move here and have a vehicle with a retail value of say $50K, when you register it, GA charges you $3500...but by the kindness of their heart, in that scenario you pay 1/2 up front and have 6 months to pay the other 1/2. I can only imagine how pissed some people are who move to GA and go to register their vehicles and don't know this till they tell them at the DMV...

I've always been curious if road crews get stuck in job holds like we do. I'm a Travel welder, currently in a Nuke plant. I'm on a hold at the moment, literally not allowed to do anything, awaiting paperwork to continue on with what we were doing, whilst making $67hr, 12hr day. This is day 2 of doing this.

I will say that at least CALTRANS has it right and does the majority of work at night when roads are less busy and closing down lanes has less of an impact. At least in and around San Jose, unless that's changed in the past 6 or 7 years that I've been away. Out in El Paso, lane closures are during the day and zero progress gets made for long stretches of time
