My 1.04R 87 had been driving extra super duper ultra shitty (like pre-o4b04 stock tune shitty) last few days, after having been on it for several thousand miles. Battery reset, new truck. There’s no way learning is completely disabled.

Anyway, truck is getting traded in soon, so this is as good as it’ll ever get for me in a Tacoma. It’s practically a miracle I made it to 49k, considering how much I hated stock transmission shifting once it “learned”, and how annoyed I was that 22 hwy mpg was really 15 mpg on tx highways with higher speed limits.

So if 1.05 has already been released on a limited basis (Newest ECU/Dongleless) to some people, but is still being developed. I wonder if the final full release will be called 1.05 as well or something else to differentiate it from the not fully developed version of 1.05, e.g. 1.051 or 1.06..

    I hear ya.
I was really hoping 1.05 would be released before the black Friday sales. I just don't know what I would like better.

Pretty sure nothing has been released to dongleless users.

Sounds like a major re-write based on a Toyota provided behind-the-scenes look. Based on that, it's fully worthy of a major version release - v2.0

Your loss, should have waited a few more weeks for 1.05, you already paid for it. BTW, my 1.04R has been running great with no resets.

1.05 has a limited release, and even with that release a new version of it will be released when everything is done. (for MT and AT).

1.04 - has condensed, but not eliminated all Factors for "learning" within the ECU. (table shuffling, 4D)
1.04R = has condensed, but not completely eliminated Factors for all "learning" within the ecu (table shuffling especially 4D tables)

1.05, as it is currently called (the version that is NOT released) -
    - will have all transmission shuffling completely eliminated - Zero torque map / shift map / shift selection shuffly
    - will have all 4D table shuffling eliminated
    - will have all tables related to "executive privilege" eliminated.

Some components of "learning" are required to remain. These are the basic "learning" components that are in ANY ecu. Ignition Trimming for Knock, Fuel Trims, etc

To expand on this. With a very simple diagram / image. :

A- Primary Shift limitation table (per gear, up / down).
    B. Shift Torque calculation 1
    C. Shift Torque Calculation 2

The ECU will select, on it's own between B or C, depending upon where along the axis of A (among several other variables) to shift. The ECU can shift the truck ANY TIME between the MINIMUM and Maximum point of "A" so while there may only be a certain amount of cells the ECU uses interpolation along them and each cell is only a limitation based on axis of A. (Accel angle). So between A Cell 1 and Cell 2, The ECU interpolates anywhere in between and can shift within.
The circles in blue on B and C are "normal" driving areas. Note the difference in numbers. These number changes make a very, big difference is how the trucks shifts, and how the truck feels when shifts, when it shifts, etc.

Now there are 6*6*8 of A (including shift tables not used on some trucks)
there are 8*8 +4 of B/C (depending on truck configuration, some may not be used).
Then, for 4D executive (hate using that word because that is what Cobb calls ford Executive) tables there are an additional : 25*2 + 16

Any time the truck shifts differently than you expect it would, it is following a different routine along it's line, which is one of the 6*6*8 (depends which gear you're in) + 8*8+4 (depends on engine temp) + 25*2 + 16 (depends on throttle angle = select B or C (in reality there are 16 differnt "b" or "c") for shift.
    Thanks toyota.

(this doesn't even include the torque converter tables intersecting with these lol.......) Or the throttle tables that make further changes. ugh

All of this is being removed in 1.05. I do plan to have a new blog post up soon completely covering how the transmission actually works and what we are doing.

    Note**
Any variant of non ECT mode still uses this Executive AI, including S mode.
ECT Button forces the ecu to use 1 set of table mapping.

    D mode D S mode has *at least* 4*6*16

1.04r is hands down better than 1.04 just on the throttle response and power. It is weird though that after resetting the battery (10 min wait with negative cable off) it drives exceptional now and I've only had one shift flair

Thanks Matt. Your comment that "1.05 has a limited release, and even with that release a new version of it will be released when everything is done. (for MT and AT)" is essentially what I was referring to. I.e. will final release still be identified as 1.05 or as something else to uniquely identify it as such.

I usually do this with a laptop and romraider. I am going to be testing romraider this weekend. I would like to see how much the fuel pump duty cycle is and see if I can up the amount of ethanol in the gas then up the timing.

I hope to have 6 psi of boost and 80% ethanol by mid 2019.
