04b30 here.. new 1.05.1 didn't fix my shudder. I've put about 200 miles on the tune. I don't really get any shudder while maintaining a speed but if I give it enough gas to increase speed without down shifting i get lots of shudder. :notsure:

I must've gotten a lucky truck.. I've never had any of these issues being reported here. It only got better after the tune.

First time using OVtune is 87 base 1.05, I was hoping it would reduce the gear hunting and get better fuel economy but looks like that didn't change for me. 600 miles this last weekend and couldn't use my cruise control because the gear hunting was so bad, going up a hill it would shift to 4th than back to 5th then back to 4th multiple times. Plus now when I go over a hill in 4th it wont shift back into 5ht/6th unless I give it a tiny bit of gas.

Anyone else experience this? I am also kind of thinking that my dealer did not put on a couple of the TSB I requested, is there a way to check that?

I can say when I tried the base tune 1.05 I had a similar experience with the gear hunting but I didn't have the holding on to 4th problem. Mine seemed like it was a constant race to 6th gear and wanted to shift to 5th and 6th earlier than it should hence the bouncing back and forth you experienced.

Did you switch to a different tune?

Are your trucks 18+ with radar cruise? If so, radar cruise will still act like stock. Use traditional cruise it should be much better. However it's not totally optimized right now for trucks with lifts / larger heavy tires / etc.

Also... regardless of what anyone posts on this forum please stop updating to 1.05.1 if you never had the torque converter issue to begin with. Once again people are getting torque converter shutter after updating when they didn't even need to.
We only modified torque converter controls.
Yes that changes characteristics of throttle response and shift tables due to how the engine acts when the torque converter is lock / unlocked. But it's not a whole new tune, and is designed for a specific purpose.

I certainly don't want to rock the boat here and I know others have had tons of great things to say about all these tunes but me personally I haven't had a great deal of luck with any of them. The base was like i described above and the performance has way too much tip in for me. My truck is stock and i'm sure guys running bigger setups like the tip in and it probably works great for them. I have experienced some shudder with my truck when in 5th and 6th since I bought it new in December. I've had it to toyota a hand full of times and I always get the whole "working as designed characteristic of the truck" story from them. I bought into OVtune in hopes of fixing that issue while others may for different reasons. Again not trying to rock the boat but for what I got it for I haven't had much success so I've just switched back to stock and been patiently waiting to see if anything comes around to fix my situation.

Regarding some trucks with odd, or unique issues. ^^ like above ^^
best idea we have right now is wait for our 2.0 update. it gets rid of all the stock transmission logic entirely. Scraps it and replaces everything with our own.
    No more fighting around it.

We made our first highway drive over the holiday weekend. 91 base, 1.05, stock tires, 2" lift. 212 miles to my father's through southern Missouri hills. Set cruise control at 67 and was 21 mpg getting there. With stock tune, usually I get 18-19 going, though I once got 20 by not using the cruise control and letting my speed slip on the hills to delay downshifts. Truck used 5th on hills, 4th when it got steeper, and 3rd a handful of times. The downshifting on the hills was similar to stock, maybe just a little later and smoother. Also, it was consistent with where I needed to shift my 2006 4cyl, manual Tacoma. I did not experience any hunting; just appropriate downshifting and shifting back up as the hills crested. The drive back home was into a gnarly head wind. Mileage was down, ended up around 20 mpg for the trip. I've never been near that good on stock tune. Oh, and that was all with AC on and windows in the shell open so dogs could get a breeze (that always causes weird drag!)

I’m also 04b30, is the shudder really noticeable or small? I believe mine has it but it’s so small I hardly notice it (also 1.05.1).

Seems crazy that’s even possible considering the fuel mapping hasn’t acclimated to your driving yet. So weird how the same truck can be so different from each other.

Cause the dude who was testing it was worried about gas money reimbursement or was totally clueless..

I don't know you nor your truck, I just know that your "fix" is not even closely related to the scope of 1.05.1 release and confirmed by developer. Don't be hysterical, we are on the same boat...

To add to that, when we post the details of our entire TCU rewrite we will be updating more about how stock trans code functions. *more correct* and up to date than our Nov blog post. Regarding shift control, shift channels / tables etc.
