no clear answer yet.

i bought the dump tubes for my MT. if no CEL with the tune i will install them. if CEL with the tune i will return them NIB. waiting for a real answer. i have a feeling this will be answered in private only. so i'm emailing him!

 

I'd order a set today if I knew they wouldn't throw a CEL ... for off-road purposes only, obviously

 

and who here again has a Tacoma strictly for off roading?

 

Apparently everyone here takes their Tacoma racing, they’re super concerned about HP

 

Mod at your own risk is a motto that I live by.

Personal responsibility is still a thing, but I do tend to hurt myself a lot.

 

If it’s anything like my Honda... there is an bung adapter that pulls the 02 sensor out further so it doesn’t read as much flow tricking the sensor not to trigger the CEL. Inside Ktuner there is an option to disable the CEL as well Incase the bung doesn’t work due to every vehicle operating differently. Im not sure if @OVTune plans on doing similar software.

 

Ovtune probably doesnt want to mention what they're doing with the cel issue for legal reasons. Based on prior experience, I'd bet the cel wont be an issue... probably.

 

Instead of returning them. You can sell them to me!

 

i'll keep that in mind while i'm working on getting the real answer.

I feel ya. I typically just sit back and watch. You can only ask for clear answers so many times before you let them decide when it’s appropriate. To much hinting to things before having answers to the simple questions. Answers are coming as they learn which seems to be on an in the moment bases.

 

no big deal for now but i just spent about $600 on these things so i'm actually needing an answer, not simply wanting one.

 

regarding check engine lights >
Our truck has not shown any check engine light (as of yet). With nothing disabled.
- Disabling the check engine light for catalysts will be an option only for trucks used exclusively in competition / off road use, and vehicles located outside of the USA where your local laws may differ (check with your local laws).
- Disabling the check engine light will NOT disable emissions reporting / readiness.

I mean I get it but it just sounds like some guys here prematurely blew their load before knowing if something is proven.

As much as I hate buying electronics from the local Best buy, they sometimes have good deals. I got a tiny Dell win10 laptop for $130 new. It's slow as hell but works great for ovtune. This was maybe 6 months ago but they may have something similar. Walmart or anything else could be a safe bet for cheap old stock.
