Sad to report that with the 87 performance tune I have lost 3mpg over the course of two tanks of gas. :(

    I drove 400-500mi a week so mpg’s are important. Went from 18 to 15mpg.

Uploaded the base tune, hopefully it’s back to where it was at least.

It’s hard to stay off the pedal with the perf tune and it ALL depends on your driving habits. You will see the best mpgs stable out after 800-1200 miles. I’ve tried both tunes (no 93 where I live)

Yeah it’s very touchy and I find myself going 5-10mph faster on the interstate which I believe contributed to the decrease in a significant way.

Yah, the perf tunes are fun, but after the base tune settles significantly the throttle response is just right. It moves my 5500lb rig just fine. The mpgs are great on long drives

I really never had complaints on the stock tune, just wanted to see what the fuss was all about. I think the base tune will suit my needs better anyway

It does mine and I’m not stock...even before the 4.88’s went in it was great on my road trips

15-17 around town. No idea for highway because it’s been a week and I drive my beater Yaris as my daily. I’m hoping to do some long distance here soon.

    Sure drives nice though.

    @SpeySquatch
Gears go in August 13th for me so I’m stoked! Debating the ideal tire size for me. Are you on 33’s?

As stated, 87 base will settle out and performs very well. I'm averaging 20.5mpg since flashing. There is plenty of oomph if you step into it but if you want to Elmer Fudd, you can get sick mpg's. Got like 24 one tank but it wasn't much fun.

^^^ This for sure! I can't afford premium gas. There's a 40 cent jump from 87 to 89 and another 35 cents for 91 here in Fla. Fuck that.

Has anyone gone back and forth between 87 perf to 93 perf?

I went back to 87 perf after running 93 perf for a couple of gas tanks and now the throttle does not feel nearly as aggresive as it used to be.

I ran 87 for a long time so I know exactly what it feels like, but now it's more tame, almost like if it was the base tune instead of perf...

Not sure why the big difference, I had switched back and forth before and did not notice a huge change.

I did not clear LV and AT's.

To be fair, it was implied that it would be only needed going from 1.05 to 1.05.1, not between different octanes of 1.05.1

Furthermore, I did not clear either during the last time I switched and that did not affect the performance.

Doesn't hurt to try I guess though.

Hmm. I don't have much experience with performance tunes except for 87 perf. If I like the way the trans is shifting, I won't reset AT's. I always reset LV's though and it has served me well.

It’s the learned values. If you clear again it will be back (re-flash) same thing happened to me...I was like wtf?

    Nope. 265/70/17

Biggest I will go is 255/75/17...I’m not into the whole 33” club because the pros do not outweigh the cons...they don’t...one of the cons being weight. The 265/70/17 drive ideal with 4.88’s...not to say they don’t “look” cool, but it’s hard to find a skinny 33” that’s not E-rated.

Whats your overall opinion of the OV Tune and 4.88's? I have about 50 miles on the 91 base tune, but the gear swap IMO may just tie it all together. OV Tune for shift program, and gears to bring everything down to a fun range of driving.

Alright, I will try that, just wanted to make sure since it literally did not happen last time, not sure why the learned values affected the change this time lol.

The 91 base tune is probably the best tune for overall fun, power and drive ability. 4.88’s are nice. It takes a little getting use to. I’ve never seen 6th gear so much as I do now and pulling my lightweight pontoon boat up the road I go I stay in 5th. When I didn’t have gears it would downshift to 4th WITHOUT the boat. At 65 mph I’m doing 2000rpms, but the mpg meter is darn near full and I hold speed pretty well. Surprised Toyota didn’t test this truck with 4.88’s because with a correctly paired tune it seems like a no-brainer.

That being said,...when Mat releases the 4.88 tune, that will be the real cherry on top
