It's not holding 6th because its too tall for the speed/load. You want it to shift down to 5th when the load increases instead of staying in 6th and lugging. I monitor mpg with OBDFusion and at 65-70 mph, mpg does not drop when it drops to 5th when all else is equal. I live in FL too and get 21-23 mpg on mostly freeway commutes at 67-70 mph with ECT on all the time. And agree with the others, give it a few more miles. But don't forget this is still a Beta so don't get too used to it, it will be updated soon.

While we are on the topic of MPG's, I will say i've noticed a solid 1 mpg loss in city driving. I'm down to 18.5 mpg in the city with Beta 2.0 OLE. I noticed MPG loss on the other 2.0 betas as well and believe this is related to the fact the truck actually moves when commanded to do so. With the prior tunes, there was significant dead pedal due to the Toyota logic that was still at play. I'll gladly sacrifice a little MPG to have the truck act the way it should. Fact of the matter is, the truck was electronically neutered from the factory. Despite the user calling for acceleration, it did so at a pace it desired, not the pace the driver called for via throttle input. It appears there is also some MPG loss at highway speeds of 70mph+. The truck is sticking around in 5th more-often than before, but it also is not shifting between 5-6-5-6 like it was. This appears to be a product of improved shift logic based off load. The truck simply does not have adequate power to maintain those speeds in 6th gear with a significant head wind, or any significant hill (at least my truck with its current configuration). We can blame this on the lack of low rpm torque related to the 2gr-fks, not the tune. I'll gladly take the slight hit in MPG here for the truck to maintain speed and not constantly shift between 5th and 6th gear.

These are some of my general observations at this point. Overall, I have been very pleased with the 2.0 beta tunes to this point.

I do want to say that I enjoy the way it shifts for sure. I miss the tip-in just a little that I had with 1.05 Performance, but that is no biggie. I liked that, but I'm not sure others that might end up behind the wheel would've :)

@Deucer01 - I would definitely be happy with the mileage you're getting! I won't get too upset about the mileage for now. Just more miles and hope it increases and like you said, if it doesn't, it'll be updated soon.

    Thanks guys!

On the mpg topic, my mpg initially went down but after multiple tanks, I just recently tied my previous best mpg and it's now on average 0.5 higher than 1.05 but that could just be driving habits.

Even if it did drop 1 mpg, I will gladly take it given the increased drive ability.

I had an odd start to a tank. Lost a couple MPG early on. After a couple longer drives (about an hour), the MPGs jumped back up to what I was seeing. Max averages that I have consistently seen, 22mpg.

Stupid question but what’s the ETA for the tune on a 2015 with the 2.7?

There’s a 2.7 thread around here somewhere with recent data.

I ran OLE 2.0 for like 10 miles, and decided I’d try the beta 4.88 instead (since it was available and my truck does afterall have 4.88’s)

Anywho, I LOVE the beta 4.88 and have not experienced any problems or power loss while running AC. I have roughly 700 miles with the beta 4.88 tune and man does it perform superb. I can’t comment about towing or weight characteristics because I haven’t done any yet (and the truck isn’t my daily driver).
(Although honestly, I think it’s perfect as hell - tons and tons better than 1.05) I really can’t wait to load this truck up for a fishing trip and test it out. Even the tip in is perfect!

Edit: I haven’t been following this thread to a T lately, but sounds like Mat is implementing tune changes using the cruise control how Uprev does map changes on Nissan/Infiniti cars. If any of you wanna see how that works, YouTube it. Map changing is really simple

I have not tried higher octane, but why not, I will give it a spin and report back!

Okay cool. Like I said I haven’t followed this thread to a T lately. Kinda hard when it’s super long and majority of it is memes about “soon”

I'm north of 600 miles on 2.0 OLE version 87 octane and after 300 miles it became sluggish. Slow acceleration, shifting is hesitant, especially from fast off ramp and gettin into fast moving traffic. It seems gets caught between downshift and requested upshift.
Accelerator became an on/off button - sometimes almost 1.5 Mississippi between pushing and going
There is Dead Pedal valley. Interestly, it will shift at low % of accelerator just like you want it, have 5 more % -and need to touch the firewall
I milked 1st tank to 427 miles yielding 22.5 mpg in moderate to heavy traffic, current one is about 0.5 mpg off my usual numbers.
After this tanks, om going back to no OLE.

There’s 0 benefit in these trucks to using higher octane and it can do more harm than good. The engines are only prepared to use 87, high octane will not give you more power or economy, only a placebo effect. Save your money.

Inaccurate. I get a lot more pinging in mine (stock) if i use 87

The 3.5 100% runs better on higher octane (91) Mine and many others get weirdness on lower octane fuels (87).

In my truck and the 4730 gallons of fuel I have burned, it is 100% not placebo. I’ve run tons of different fuels and there is a noticeable difference between not just octane but also fuel brand and ethanol content.

This is interesting since I have manuals for all of them which are clear the engines aren’t made for higher octane.

If there’s pinging, you have a compression issue due to high mileage or worn engine parts. Using higher octane increases the combustion and helps fill that slop so to speak hence you hear less or no pinging.
