having issues
cant figure out what is wrong with this thing.
I cannot get the p5 flash utility to highlight, so I tried downloading p5 flash separately, when I try to load a tune it gives me an error saying corrupt file etc.
I'm about ready to take a club to my laptop and car dash hahahaha!!

Thanks for the info. I did that prior and it does enable it, but when I hit the p5 flash, bottom of the dialog box it just flashes ready.... but doesn't open up the flash manager.

If your truck is 2017 you need to choose the year and NOT P5 but PCM. Plus you have to have the 04B04 ECU? Do you have a "Dongle"? Never mind was looking at wrong screen!

I have a 2019 04B31. I registered my code with OV and got the Dongle today. I'm thinking its a windows 10 thing? DK

Okay. But you did not get a dongle. that was one that we first buyers got and it was discontinued. You're probably think of the cable? I am 2017 with a dongle, you will have to ask someone else what is going on, sorry for the bother. GL

 

No worries, but yes, I got an orange dongle with a cable.

No you don't, the dongle was either black or purple, you have the newer Tatrix cable.

Did you install the cable drivers?

 

Dingles, Dongles. I call anything that fits on the end of a cable, whether it the computer side or the cable end a dongle, at least thats what Ive always called them. Yep, i installed the drivers.

 

You don’t send truck info, you send computer info. It’s all in the instructions on his website. You can get your reg file before you get your kit.

 

Yup, I sent the computer info a few days ago in anticipation of the cable. Now that I have it, I can't install it.

 

If P5flash is grey/dithered, turn off antivirus, windows defender, anti-malware, etc. That’s probably what’s doing it.

Here’s a question for the OVtune masses with 4.88 gears. Since I got my gears installed According to the dash I’ve been getting 16-17mpg average around town and that’s with me pussy footing it. Before the gear swap I was averaging 19-20 with the same driving style. Of note I had the most recent beta tune installed for about 300 miles and averaged 17 mpg. I thought the tune was the culprit so I reflashed to 1.05 and I’m getting the same result. Is it because the computer thinks it’s getting worse gas mileage than it really is? I disconnected the battery after installing 1.05 thinking it would clear the memory and I’m still getting the same results. I should also mention I’m running 265x75 r16 bfg AT ive had the tires on the truck for almost two years now.

 

Got it in there. For some reason, even though I restarted my computer, I went into task manager and ended the task and then the p5 flash utility and the dialog box came up. So, there was a task running, but couldn't see it. Funny how it still ran when I shut it down and restarted. Anyway, thanks for the help. I loaded the a 1.05.1 91 octane gearlock. Went to back out of my garage and it launched it. Hopefully it doesn't take too long before the tune learns thats not what I want haha. I'm looking for a smooth throttle response off the line.

 

Why did you buy the gears? For more response and towing power or for mpgs?

Also, how were you getting 19-20mpg around town? 16-17mpg around town is pretty damn good

 

Which tune provides the best linear throttle, with slower tip in? I'm just starting out on 91 gear lock and its too jerky off the line.
I'll probably try base 91 tune, even though I'd like gear lock

 

Any base. I like the 91 base. 87 base is okay too.
