Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

I own a flash kit and I've been tuned since 1.04, currently on the 2.0 beta file. I am patiently waiting for the 04A61 2.0 final release and just to clarify if I want to flash that when it's available, the vF tuner is not mandatory correct? Once 2.0 final is released I can just flash my truck the old way via the p5Flash software like I've done with all the previous times? Thanks in advance and I do apologize if this question has been asked before but I have not been reading this thread since the 2.0 beta so I am a bit out of the loop.

 

You are correct. If you just want 2.0 and be done, this can be done with your flash manager without purchasing the vF.

Once 2.0 is released for your ECU.

 

I just hope the final 2.0 will have tunes for the dump tunes. I don’t like this check engine light!

Provided you don’t have a dongle. 1.04 as a first tune, so unless you bought used, you probably don’t have a dongle.

 

Is the new 2.0 test file going to be release for other ecu’s? I wouldnt mind testing it on a 2019.

 

No, probably not. In the past, 2016 ECUs get the pre-final test, then final is released for all ecus following that.

Yesterday was Saturday and the day before that was Friday. I don't see the relevance.
