No one with a handheld has been able to use VF tuner or use it for anything other than flashing tunes. When it was brought out it was supposed to be much more, but ever since they found out it would only work for 2016-17, it seems any new development for it was halted since it's already obsolete. It was obsolete soon after I bought it...

You're not the only one......Never thought the openport and cable option would allow me to tune others tacoma and toyotas too....I Have a 4runner sr5 2015 that needs a tweak in response and here I am, regreting that move....

I thought he swapped or refunded anyone with a handheld that requested it. Probably worth a message to zendesk..

Depends on which version as there were two.

Unfortunately the company that developed the handheld (alientech) kind of ghosted the whole thing when COVID happened. But we are still trying to support the ones that can be supported the best we can.
if it is an accessory version though we have no problem refunding/swapping etc.
If it has a 10021 error we can swap it / refund / etc

Also vF Tuner wouldn't really exist right now if it weren't for COVID screwing up things.

2018+... it was never offered on 2017. I figured if i bought the cable i could swap my license over to the standard software...

Matt - the handheld I bought is:
    2016 - 2019 Tacoma 3.5L OpenFlash Tablet Tuner - OPEN TUNING SOLUTION × 1
    $699.00

If i buy a cable, can you swap my license over to VFtuner?

Yes, but make sure to flash back to stock on your truck first so you don't lock up the handheld.

Also for everyone, to avoid such problems in the future, vF Tuner is the only thing we will offer going forward. We went with the handhelds because so many in the community wanted it so we tried to make it happen, ended up being a big headache for many.
Some people still ask us for handhelds, but our focus now is just to make 1 great solution vs trying to make "any" solution. If that makes sense.

I’ve been running OVTune 1.05 since it came out. I liked it so much over stock that I never felt like flashing to a newer tune. Well last night I flashed the 2.0 Premium Beta and holy cow! It’s like a new truck. Only test drove last night and my drive to work today. It’s feeling like a great improvement. For those like me that are hanging on to the 1.05 might try the 2.0!

@OVTune or anyone else that's been following this thread: has the new version of 2.0 with performance/map switching been released? I think I remember seeing a potential release date of 9/20, but didn't see anything in the first post of this thread.

If you could please clarify that would be great. When you say that VFTuner is all that you will be offering moving forward does that mean you have no intention of releasing the full featured 2.0 tunes any longer?

What can we as the community do to assist you in finishing the 2.0 product?

Yes it is still planned. Nothing that we create is going away.
What I meant by that is relying on other companies for hardware stuff that also contains a critical required component, we are not.
Like at the moment we rely on tactrix to supply us cables, but we can work without them.
But the handhelds (dimsport, alientech, etc) their hardware and flash software work combined, and if *anything* isn't functional out of it, nothing can be done from our side.

So what I am trying to say is that we will only have 1 solution for the tacoma going forward: our software.

    Hopefully that makes sense?

Yes, makes sense. Thank you. Any idea when this tune will actually come out? We’re butting up against a year from your original projected release date.

Are you really surprised? This kind of stuff is why I don't recommend OVTune to other Tacoma drivers.
