I’m sure if there’s no one locally, someone could do it via remote session. It’s really only about 10 minutes worth of work

The dongle is only used to authorize your use of mats tune. The tactrix port and cable is all you need to flash the TSB. Along with what has been mentioned just a few posts back.

Here you go. Locked in 5th towing. Downshift lockout. 6th gear lockout. (For testing purposes)

Towing how much weight and how much wind resistance (height)? I don't think the stock truck is never going to pull any 'real' weight/resistance at 2k/70mph. I guess there are a few situation/places, but I think the custom tune per customer is going to be very useful to people that tow. Towing can be strikingly different per customer.

    Now....with TT......;)

How much weight are you pulling?

And how big is the hill you're going down?

If this is real life, I need it, and would gladly test it out for you, but our speed limits are 75mph, so I feel like over 70mph adds a ton of wind resistance.

I do use cruise control, set to 80, which is 5mph over the speed limit. I've noticed too that working the gas pedal manually will help to hold a higher gear, but that's just not going to happen on a 5 hour road trip.

Hold up. So S mode is now a true manual shift mode?

Don't get your hopes up, he can control the gear it'll stay in via software, like he does on the dyno in 4th.

Also to everyone with issues installing Techstream because of the ISO... use Winrar to extract the ISO and run setup.

I can attest to this. I recently had to make an semi-emergency unplanned overnight trip between Atlanta and Northern VA. I normally do this trip with the family in our Odyssey during the day and the speed limit is 70 mph in most areas so I run 75-80. This 600+ mile trip has a good 350+ miles of interstate that is hilly (up/down) and since I was driving in the middle of the night, I was keeping my speed down to 65-70 and my truck was getting 23+MPG on the 1.04 91 with 93 in the tank. That is at least 3+ MPG better than I've seen on other typical highway scenarios where I was running 75-85 mph.

    2000 miles.

Don't know exact weight. Fully loaded uhaul enclosed trailer.
Decided against towing the Z due to the total weight being so close to 6000lbs

I would estimate 2500-3000 lbs. Mostly car parts back there

Yea, same here. Towed a full uhaul car hauler with a 99 Beetle TDI on it from Pensacola, FL to South East AL. Got 12 mpgs with 93 octane on 91 using cruise, no ECT, and no S mode. I do have 4.88s so that helped keep things smooth. According to uhaul's website and google, the combined weight was 5,077 lbs.

the 4.88's didn't help keep you in 5th on flat roads? that is a lot more weight vs a enclosed uhaul which i believe has a max load of 2k lbs not including the trailer itself.

I stayed in 5th and 6th unless going up hill.

I dolly towed a 2006 corolla 800 miles across the Midwest at 65-70 and averaged right around 17 MPG for the trip.

MT & 4.30 ftw. That was before I tuned my truck.
