Mat, I'm assuming there would be additional cost for custom running after data logging? Also, how much logging would be required before a custom tune?

Yep, but you can use ANY computer to download tune files with the handheld, since your product registration is now tied to the handheld itself and not the computer.

 

Agreed. Would be really neat to have a flex fuel setup. Plus im sure there are some minimal gains to be seen using it.

 

Does "any" computer include a Mac computer?

 

Ordered the handheld so i can leave it in my truck and switch to 87 if im traveling and cant find 93... or gas shortage happens and only 87 is available.
@OVTune I assume the trade-in option for dongle users means that loading tunes onto the truck must happen through the handheld only cause the dongle registration will get canceled or transferred to the handheld? Do we send you back the dongle or trash it?

 

Yeah my old one was done through emails. Still need computer access for setup is all I was getting to. I personally would want a computer to use.

 

Of course I just purchased and registered the tune on Tuesday this week Would much rather have had just a handheld tuner. Oh well, happier with the truck tuned and patiently waiting for 1.05.

 

I have the dongle kit w/tactrix cable,are there any additional charges for a custom tune?

 

Probably not, but it's easy enough to install Windows on a Mac with Bootcamp or a VM application like Parallels.

I’m curious how you guys carry any decent weight with those stock leaf packs. Absolutely useless for anything over 300lbs

 

Bootcamp works way better than VM. I could never get VM to work, but bootcamp has been flawless

 

Parallels is very refined and extremely simple to use. If you already have a Bootcamp partition set up with a Windows installation, it will even give you the option of using that instead of creating a new VM. I can boot directly into my Bootcamp setup from macOS without restarting the computer. Very convenient, and it works like a charm.

 

DO NOT VM a mac to run window to flash files. Bootcamp it.

 

We're not talking about flashing the truck, we're talking about downloading tune files to load them on the handheld.

 

Gotcha. I would still be leery of using a VM personally unless I had more computer technical training. I set one up once and had issues with hardware that I could not get worked out. Just sharing a thought is all.

 

A Parallels VM will work just fine for this particular application.
