    Just throwing this out there:

I’m one of the ones that’s monitoring and getting excessive misfire counts. 20+ is not uncommon.

My truck does not get much drive time. Maybe it’s driven every other day, and less than a few miles is the most I drive it. We use the truck for our family excursions- that’s where most of the miles comes from. I bought the truck in February of ‘17 and it only has 8000 miles on it.

That being said, today I drove it and got 19 misfires on a 25 mile drive. The second 25 mile drive back home got me 3 misfires. The rest of the three drive cycles got me 0-3 misfires.

My point is that the truck gets substantially less misfires the more I drive it. Maybe if I drove it like the average owner, my misfires would line up with the average misfire counts?

    Any thoughts?

Ya 93 is getting expensive here too so I've only loaded 87 performance. Love it with ECT, but with all the raves about 93 performance I've been tempted to try it.

I am going to show my ignorance and ask a stupid question that popped into my head after reading this. Matt said a few days ago that you can recover a bricked ECU by flashing it back to stock with the FM. If Matts program rewrites Toyota's ECU program and Toyota's program rewrites Matts ECU program, what's to stop me from "recovering" a totally fine 04B03 by flashing to the stock 04B04 with FM? If it was that simple Matt would have already had everyone do that so they could have access to the performance tunes so obviously there is something else going on in the 04Bxx updates that are not in Matts files. Whats that "something"?

I drive mine almost daily and I get 2-3 the first 1-2 minutes. Usually zero all other times. Saw a 5 during a short burst today but thats not normal for the truck. But I don't know if there's a correlation to frequency of use and misfires though. Maybe others with high misfires can chime in.

He said a long time ago that the new ECUs have different “access codes” so you can’t flash backwards. Plus the newer ECUs write new code in new locations and reorganize all the coding in new categories and it’s just a mess

Mat, are we likely to see 03/60/61 Perf/Gear Lock tomorrow or is all this lurking for naught?

    False.
If you would have read everything thoroughly, you would know that ECT still activates gear lock in D mode. Will still upshift, but not downshift.
