Kings, 275/70/17, a few custom items, lots of Meso mods.
I don't think the man eats or sleeps. He's just a machine and probably built and programmed himself....:pccoffee:

Initial thoughts on first 25 miles with MT tune 1.02C (presumed 91 octane):

    • Throttle response and control didn't seem tremendously different
    • HOWEVER - truck is way more responsive right out of the hole, clutch transition while initial acceleration to 1st gear feels much smoother. The launch lurch that was sometimes there is now completely gone. Throttle lag from off to on throttle also seems gone.
    • There is DEFINITELY more torque from idle to ~2500 rpm, engine handles load at this range much more smoothly without the stuttering I'd become used to
    • There is no "power on" mode at ~4k rpm when VVTI hits. It just pulls hard and smooth the whole way from idle up. It was rainy so I didn't get a great chance to really hoon it out but the linear acceleration through 1st and 2nd is definitely "seat of the pants" faster, almost, ALMOST to the hard to control point
    • It definitely revs out to redline much easier, like it's not working as hard, more effortless
    • Redline doesn't seem changed but "rev bounce" seems tightened up from stock, with a shorter duration of power cut - maybe this is just my imagination though
    • Rev hang is still a thing
    • Partial throttle driving, and cruise, engine and acceleration feels smoother
    • I will not comment on MPG just yet until I have a tank or so down and settle my throttle foot in a bit

    Other items that may matter:
    • Truck is pretty much stock
    • Running 265 BFG Kbro's
    • Had a half-tank of 92 octane (that's what they sell around here)
    • I rev my truck out to redline pretty much daily, and rarely if ever shift low gears below 4000 rpm
    • Haven't done a CPS change, don't have the recall, haven't had any of the symptoms

I will say this, I never thought the truck lacked for power. The additional power is "neat" for me, but not necessary. I can see the 87 tune giving up very little, for my expectations, over the 91. I am also looking forward to additional changes and improvements post Dyno day. Still hoping on rev hang going away. We MT guys have less issues to deal with than our auto brothers, and so less expectations, at least for me for improvements. I'll be interested to see how it all shakes out. I would like to also seem improved engine braking and some lower idle capabilities for off-road usage.

My hat's off to @OVTune for some great work in a very brief period of overall development time. Thank you for your efforts and looking forward to seeing what else you can bring us!

    Freaking tease.

@OVTune , when you get your hands on a M/T I need you to do one thing before sprinkling your unicorn pee all over it -

Load up the OEM tune and take it for a good drive. In traffic. On the highway. Find a steep hill and try taking off from a complete stop on it. Walk on it at least once. Your passion for perfecting this thing will go through the roof. Seriously.

Thanks again for all you've done!

I can't imagine what you have in mind unless you're somehow going to do launch control. Very interested to see what you come up with.

So this got me thinking about how to express what we would like out of this tune as M/T owners, in a way that is clear (ie not a clusterfuck of random posts lol).

Maybe someone start a poll thread with some requests (ie Throttle linear as possible with minimum delay, remove rev hang, lower DFCO RPM fuel cut in, maybe have Otto only in low range)? As ideas come in they can be discussed and added or removed. Perhaps a top 5 kinda thing at the end.

I know Mat has some notes on what "we" want, but so far that's probably based on been ppl like me barking about stuff. You see, Mat knows what is possible to do in the tune, or can find out. If we don't ask, well..

I also know dyno day is gonna firm a lot of this up.

Anyone? I suck at doing stuff like this lol

I don't doubt it at all, I have the URD Spec U and the truck runs great and will run even better when we start data logging and I can get a specific tune for my truck or I go put it on a dyno. The bad behaviors were back at the earlier tunes. 1.01B and 1.02s have been fine. The Spec U removes a significant amount of restriction.

Still struggling with quite harsh gear changes on 1.02C (A). Anyone else (AT) experiencing this?

I think Matt has a pretty good handle on what needs to be addressed. IMO he has taken care of 99% of the problem areas.

Also, I hope everyone realizes I was kidding about launch control. I won't be drag racing my truck any time soon.

Nope shifting is too smooth, I wish Mat would firm and speed the shifts up.

Not for me.. shifts smooth as silk. When i first loaded the tune the downshift to first while coming to a stop was kinda harsh but that has definitely smoothed out

Nope, they are smoother than 1.02B aside from the 1st gear kick which I don't think is in the C shift map. Try switching to it.

I wonder what that list includes.. the obvious ones like throttle/rev hang etc. But what else?

Nope, still on A 91. I am burning through the tank of of my E0 91 to switch to E10 87 and load up the A 87 map to note any differences in power.....but based on how it shifts, I've found the A map is perfect aside from that kick that I'm getting used to figuring out how to avoid. The C map is probably going to eliminate that but I don't want the 5-6 gear similar to stock so I'm concerned I'll have to give up something I don't want to.
