I've always been curious on why every 100 or so pages there has to be the one guy that comes in to say something negative about the tune even though they have zero experience with it? I saw a Top Fuel motor blow up during a NHRA race so does that mean that the guy that tuned the motor isn't qualified to tune my small block chevy? Hardly. I realize that my SBC isn't a race motor so I'm comparing apples to tomatoes much the same as I realize my NA Toyota isn't the same as a twin turbo luxury car that people think is a performance car. I got the tune to address the horrendous trans performance and driveability, I hardly believe that the 7-9 peak HP gains at the top of the rev curve are gonna grenade my motor (if I even get it up to that RPM range) but that 20-30ft lbs of torque at 3200RPM has helped out tremendously without putting undue stress on my driveline or pushing it to an unsafe operating condition (as proven by all the operating stats). If you wanna come back in when the twin turbos get released and go throw out a random troll comment about the q50 issues then feel free cause at least at that point you are in the correct game cause right now you're throwing wiffle balls at a MLB game

We have all seen first hand what he has done with the Tacoma... wait, not just seen, we took it a step further and actually bought the product and not 1 single problem has been attributed to the tune besides the occasional complaint that their Tacoma didn't perform like a Lambo after the tune

So this ecu tuning. Is it similar or the same to the OV tune?

ECU is an acronym for Engine Control Unit, basically the computer that controls your vehicle. This is what "tunes" like OVTune modify in order to change the way the truck functions.

Is that a real question? Of course it's "legit". Spend some time reading this thread. There's also a review thread in the sticky section up top.

But before you reply tell me how those cars (hundreds) blowing up from KNOWN OEM problems that could of resulted in those cars blowing up.
-massive oil consumption stock cars dying under 2k miles.
    -overheating
    -serpentine belts exploding
    -turbo failure
-pcm failure which causes the car to flood with fuel ( Infiniti ecu recall)
    - EGT sensor failure
-fuel injector failure, causes cars to flood with fuel
    - rod knock from oil consumption
    - overheating from lack of intercooler coolant from the factory!

    And even more than that.

I have no doubt some of those earlier 2016s that were tuned "blew up" while being tuned but not FROM being tuned. Huge difference. I even went with one customer with log data proving the intercooler were overheating and what do you know. There was no fluid In the car.

This is the stuff that ticks me off because I do know of some Q50s that had engine failure (from oil consumption...) and everyone wants to attribute it to the tune and forget the outrageous amount of issues with that engine and the hundreds of cars that blew up in the first few hundred miles.

Thank you very much for the report.

What gear is pulling 3000-3200 rpm at 70mph? I thought Toyota (and virtually everyone in the tow threads agree) that towing in the over-drive gears 5-6 was not a good plan. I also thought that towing was to be done in S mode. Wrong?

I have a question regarding the tune and previous manufacturer issues stated above. Obviously there were vehicles from the factory which had failures due to poor qc. Hypothetically if the tune was loaded to a vehicle and said vehicle later developed a mechanical failure, would that disqualify said vehicle from a warranty claim?

Not necessarily. Depends on what failed. that's actually what happened with one of the early Q50s I tuned. Tuned it, his serpentine belt exploded on the highway and car overheated and lost all of it's oil. He gathered all the evidence online / facebook / on the forums about the numerous people with stock cars failing, and then produced the documentation from the leaked document from an infiniti worker where they were telling dealers to say there is no problem, and then he got everything fixed under warranty.

Yea dealers were saying these engines with the serpentine belts exploding on the highway which caused total engine failure was not a known problem. And then the document from infiniti about how to fix it got leaked out by a tech on facebook showing they knew about it all along. (or so they say. maybe some dealers didn't know...)
It seems infiniti has fixed all the issues (except the new one.. ECU recalls which are killing ECUs) but in 2016 it was a total mess.

Anyways if there is enough evidence that the stock car has issues you have a good argument that a modification didn't cause it.

Any idea on what it would depend on, or what would disqualify it for coverage? Does this tune modify anything in a way that is detectable? Thank you Mat for your time and responses, this tune and what you have done with it is really impressive.

Yup, I get it with 1.04, it's dependant on how quickly I come to a stop... Feels like the torque converter unlocking. It happened stock until it warmed up, didn't happen in 1.03, and happens regardless of temp on 1.04. @OVTune , any insight on this?

Unrelated note, took to the mountains with my truck. ECT and s mode, this thing rips though the winding hills. Holds 5th so well on the climbs.
