How does it drive compared to the Tacoma? Are they similar? Or is one noticeably better than the other? Thanks.

Hi, I just purchased a Tacoma that was manufactured in June 2016.
Do you know if this was fixed upon sales? I got this sticker on it, it shows AC60F with 2GR-FKS.

Since I am exporting it to Japan, I need all possible recalls or TSBs done prior to exportation...

I can no longer lie to myself. I officially dislike my truck. I now have the 3-4 flare on first shift of the day. Maybe it's the cooler weather. Off the shop it goes. Boo Wendy, Booo Wendy Testaburger, Boooo.

The frontier has more launch power from a stand still. It hits really hard. The Tacoma has more launch once you are already moving, when converter is near coupled

I have had the 3-4 flare since day one on my DC OR 4x4, warm, cold, any time of the day. I also had the TSB done and am about 2500 miles post TSB. The TSB seems to have helped it, but it still does it sometimes but less much less drastic and much less frequent. I think its BS that it is still happening and Toyota has not come up with a fix. The truck still drives like crap post TSB and my MPG is down to 14mpg average. Right after the TSB I was getting about 16 max and MPG has slowly been declining since. The graph in the "eco" app in the truck looks like a staircase going down. I know this truck should not be getting 14 MPG average so something must be up. So disappointed and not sure where to go from here. Going to take it in for 20k mile service soon so i will voice my concerns. I did get a free extended warranty from toyota when i opened a case. Im glad they gave it to me, but it doesn't help when my truck shifts and drives like crap everyday. At this point i just wish the damn trans would break so they can give me a new one. I have had enough trying to deal with the dealers and all their BS. I have wasted so much time dealing with this BRAND NEW TRUCK! My old 2006 taco never had 1 problem, NOT ONE! and it was 10 years old when i got rid of it for this 2016 "upgrade".

Tacoma debacle seems to be building up steam towards an full blown mutiny . First re-flash occurred at less than 1,000 miles , multiple cases opened with Toyota Corp., never have I been offered an extension of powertrain coverage. Keep on Toyota's back , if we give up well that would be wonderful for Toyota, 2016 Tacoma owners must remain united and continue to be persistent in making Toyota correct our issues, not apply a band-aid to a gaping wound. Those of us should draft a form stating dis pleasure about our product through no fault of the consumer. Surely among the 2016 Tacoma owners( who haven't traded or sold units) is a double sharp and influential legal mind to lead the charge and advance the cause. The Lemon Law path an be a long drawn out affair. This issue is real for those vehicles and owners affected.

You def have something wrong getting that mpg. My TSB fix lasted 2 months and now my "flare" from 2-3 is back. Sometimes cold the 1-2 does it. I have called it a slip but its more of a flare to slide shift. It is great with ECT but don't like using it all the time. No matter what issues I had my mpg has always stayed in the epa rated ranges. I sold a 1/2 paid off 2014 F150 and drove my paid for 08 Prerunner with 60k miles while looking for my upgrade 16. I really regret getting rid of 2 perfectly fine trucks for a new one with problems. I did anticipate 1st model year issues so that is my own fault. Should have waited for mid-2017. Loved my F150 but mpg was rough on the wallet. I did get the V8 and big rear gear for towing and never towed anything with it. I had a 1st gen 2.7 Prerunner that had 1 issue. At 155k miles the internal transmission harness wire broke. $90 fix. Plus the new filter and fluid. Sold it. Now has 188k miles and zero issues. I have faith in Toyota to fix our transmission issues EVENTUALLY. Was hoping that would be resolved by now. Both my 2000 and 2008 had the frame recalls done. That was on carfax when I bought them. That was a major recall. I was impressed. I could not see GM or Chrysler doing it. Maybe Ford or imports. If my 2nd gen got the same mpg as my 3rd gen I would go back to a 2nd gen. I love everything about my 16 except the nagging transmission. I don't owe much on it so I hate to consider trading it. If they don't get this straight withing another 12 months I may possibly go to a 2013-2016 4Runner. The biggest problem I have is that there is literally nothing else I would rather drive. You need to really whine more to Toyota Corporate. They fixed a lot of problems that I had but I called and emailed them several times over a period of 1 week. For the past 2.5 months everything seems fine except the returning shift issue. I figure at least the standard powertrain warranty will get me through until the transmission is finally resolved. Mine did shift great for 1500 miles after the TSB. Compared to many others on TW I think my problem is more minor. Its still is a problem but none of the high revving 4-5-6 shift issues as others had. Good luck with yours. I just hate reading this stuff. It does suck. I would hate to part with mine and then a complete fix is released down the road. Thats why I am trying to be patient. I would have to pay more for mine used than I paid for it new. Got my fingers crossed for all of us.

Wonder if some sort of petition would work. Maybe strictly have a thread,"2016 V6 Automatic Transmission Complaint Petition", for people to list their model, partial vin and name. That would blow up fast on here. Then after a few hundred or a few thousand digital signatures we could send that thread via email to the CEO whose email is listed on one of these threads. Just a thought.

If nothing has started by tomorrow evening I will try to start one. I guess it should also include 2017 models. I have seen poles on TW where people vote like a survey. There must be a way to do it that way. I would love to see real numbers to gather a percentage of owners with and without the issues. Probably best to list model, partial vin, manufacture date, date of purchase, city and state of purchase, and, for privacy, only list last name. Maybe include transmission shift issue yes or no. The date TSB performed. Case opened yes or no. The problem will be people that choose to rant on the thread. I think all we need is the above info. Does not matter what your particular transmission problem is. It is just important that you have a transmission problem solely on the 2016-2017 V6 Tacoma with the 6 speed automatic transmission. Would be best if thread was opened by a professional. I do think it is a route worth taking. Numbers speak volumes. How many of us would have bought our truck had we seen such a thread with 500 complaints. Hopefully someone will start this before I get home tomorrow evening. If not I will make an attempt. And FYI the CEO email address is a few posts back in this thread.

it's hard to see the benefit of a 4cylinder when i'm getting the same mpg in my v6. I saw 26mpg a few days ago on a 10 or 15 mile trip.
