2016 Transmission Update and Fluid Levels

I work at a dealership with a Toyota store - and hence sold myself my DCSBOR 8 days ago. I have about 430 miles on the odometer currently.

I spoke with the Service Manager at our Toyota store, and he said that one of his technicians had just attended training and Tacoma fluid levels came up in conversation with some senior Toyota techs. Their main concern was that trucks with the V6 tow package were low on fluid due to the increased capacity with the transmission cooler installed.

It finally sounds like Toyota is singing the same song we've all been singing for months now!

Long story short, I'm scheduled to drop off my Tacoma in 6 days to have the fluid checked. I'm experiencing a delay from R to D when cold, and some clunky shifts in low speed, low RPM situations. Hoping that it's just a sign of low fluid and that everything will be good after that!

I'm actually happy with the way the transmission shifts in my truck (outside of the aforementioned issues). It's not always hunting for 5th and 6th gears, and even though it's lazy to shift, you can modulate the throttle enough to get it to shift how & when you want.

 

After taking my truck back to the dealer 4 times for transmission issues I finally got them to check the fluids! And sure enough it was half a quart low! I'm calling corporate to see if I can get an extended warranty...
