OP, I was trying to point out to you that @gearcruncher thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...be-low-on-fluid-directly-from-factory.405642/
Has been stickied at the top of the forum, the idea was to reduce the confusion from so many different threads, like what your complaint was about.
As has been pointed out in this thread, there's like 6 different trans threads dealing with low fluid, so maybe we can agree that 1 thread is less confusing...

Calling corporate is no better than calling the dealership,at least for me is wasn't. Just got off the phone with them for the second time and get the same BS line that there's no know issue so if you want to have it diagnosed you'll have to pay for it. I've called all the dealerships around me and received the same response. Seriously, only having 600 miles on a $36K truck and I have to pay for it? As far as I'm concerned Toyota can go :brianr: I'll never buy another one! I know the fan boys don't want to hear it but after 20+ years of buying Fords,I trade them in every 3 years through the business,I've never received this BS run a round! The 1 and only issue I had, which ironically was with the transmission on a re-design year, they took care of it right away. I've had nothing but problems from my dealership all through the whole sales process and now this from corporate,Toyota can go FO I hope this tranny blows up!

Despite all documentation from Toyota that clearly states "ALL FLUID LEVELS", I have been in a dispute with my dealer and Toyota Corporate for a while about it, and they will not cover checking fluid levels. In fact, I need to follow up with them again.

I've purchased Fords for a long time and trust me, they have issues as well. Had a head gasket go on a 2011 F150 3.5 eco boost at 43k miles then another at 70k. I had a 2005 F-150 with the 5.4 V8 that had the infamous spark plug issue. I broke 6 out of 8 plugs AT 50K MILES!!! Spent three days cracking porcelain ground shield insulation and reverse tapping them to get them out praying the whole time that nothing had fallen in the cylinder. It's not uncommon to pull the block either if you can't get them out. Ford was sued for this in a class-action lawsuit and they STILL don't admit it's a fault. Now there are at least three styles of kits specifically designed for broken spark plug removal on this engine between 2004-2008. As far as Im concerned, Ford can f off.

I had enough of my Fords for a while. But yes, I agree, this is bullshit. I better not be charged out of pocket but it didn't sound like they would.

I was told by my dealer,on my 2012,"We don't check trans fluid,on new truck inspection,it's a sealed unit, and if no leaks are seen, why check it"?Dicussed it with ser.mgr. for 10 mins, brought up post on Tacoma forum about it;then checked it no problems.

One of these low fluid posts has everything listed that is required for a Tacoma PDI .
If you remember what post it was in or which member posted it , pass it on and I will add it to the poll .
The one I am using in the poll now lists that the transmission check is performed under hood rather than under truck
Regardless , this low fluid issue is the fault of Toyota , not the buyer .
The San Antonio plant seems to be the largest contributor to the low fluid problem
Go have a peek at your vin #
If your VIN starts with a 3 your truck was built in Mexico, if it starts with 5 it was built in the US

While you are correct that the first service is at 5,000 miles, it does not include an oil change. The first oil change is done at 10,000 miles. Minor items are done at the 5,000 mile intervals which is what the reminder was for.

If you'd like to see what gets done at each of the services, it can be found in your Warranty and Maintenance Guide that came with the truck. You can find a copy of it on Toyota.com as well. It starts on page 37.

When I took mine in for the 5K service I asked to check the tranny fluid. Told the service writer what the problem was. Made sure that he knew to check the tranny fluid. When I picked it up he told me that the tech checked the tranny fluid level and it was full. They had it parked in such a way that I could not back up and then put it in drive to check the problem. Next morning, still hesitating. When I called he said that they would need to keep it overnight to troubleshoot the problem. I honestly don't believe they checked it. Going to crawl underneath it this weekend and check it myself.

Went to Toyota down the street from work today to set up my 5000m appointment. Let my service guy know about the tranny and requested to use one of my engine oil changes now. He said no prob to both and had heard of the low tranny oil issue. This was at Crown in Ontario. Taking it in on Tues and will report back.

Dropped mine off at the dealer today (65 miles one way) for rear window seal replacement and to check tranny. Same issues everyone is having. 5 hrs later seal replaced and said they couldn't replicate problem. Get in my truck pissed and leave and it does the delay. Haha just about lost it. Need it overnight they say. Not my problem they make it a pain in the @ss to check.

So after being pissed off all day about this issue and not receiving a call back from a super which I requested this morning I call corporate again and finally got a helpful person. This agent said he'd escalate this to the service manager at the dealership and I should expect a call within 2 business day from the service manager. He opened a second case for me and said he'd inform the manager of everything we talked about and request that they do a diagnostic check for me. We'll see how this one goes but there's no way I'm paying for this because someone fucked up and didn't do their job and check these trannies before leaving the factory or dealership! Sure I could crawl under the truck and do it myself but why should I? This is why I bought a 2016 truck not a POS 1961 rust bucket!
