Anyone of these should work great for you posted in the link below . It should fit on the end of your grease gun , however if you turn your driveshaft just right , sometimes you dont need to use the greaser

Does this mean that Toyota actually listened to their customers ? Thanks to Tacoma world maybe there will be a resolution to the low fluid problem that has continued from the 2nd gen and carried on into the 3rd gen ?
Where is the axle wrap thread and the broken leaf spring thread and the brake click thread etc etc . Time to start some more polls with corporates phone number plastered all over the posts

When I greased my u-joints I had plenty of room with a regular grease gun, no need for a needle fitting.

I didn't have to use a needle either. Just the regular ol grease gun fitting. I did use a gun with the extended flex tube though, but no needle for mine.

3/3/16: Just got back from my local Toyota dealership. I really wanted them to check the ATF fluid level and F/R differential fluid levels. Since I did purchase the vehicle from another dealership, I felt it safe to elaborate on my concerns regarding the pre-delivery inspection (PDI). The big red flag for me was the fact that it took 5-7 pumps with the grease gun in all 5 of my U-joints...I had to do this. I wouldn't have even checked them if it were not for Tacoma World forums. My transmission, 6-speed auto with the trans. cooler, was doing a lot of "shiftiness" on the highway, as well as, the N-to-D delayed engagement/slip when cold,...especially the first 800 miles, or so,...but then, everything settled out, no more issues, and my highway mileage is starting to creep up into the low 20's at 70-75mph. I've got a little over 1100 miles on it now. So, anyway, I simply told the service rep that my wife and I are planning a 4500mi road trip through the desert SW and then up into the mountains of Colorado, pulling a 3000lb trailer...True. I told him that I had some concerns about the PDI at the previous dealership and wanted things checked out. I also told him about the various posts on social media regarding low ATF, especially from the San Antonio, TX plant, where mine was built. Of course, he wasn't aware of any problems with the Tacomas,...wink, wink. Toyota of Grand Rapids, MI always does a complete PDI before putting the vehicles on the lot. "No problem." They did a full multi-point inspection, and checked ALL driveline fluids, grease, etc. No charge. No discussion. No pushback. Out the door in 1.5 hrs. Everything was fine. No need to add fluids,...or so they claim. Didn't care if that was true or not,...it was checked out,...got it all in writing just in case anything happens in the future.

Has anyone checked a 4 cylinder and found it to be low? I don't see why it wouldn't, but mine hasn't had any shifting issues at all. Not sure if I should bother having it checked.

Some may say, "If it ain't broke, then don't fix it." However, sometimes if you don't look, you never find things. If things appear to be OK, chances are, they probably are OK. Just make a specific point with your service rep, that you have some concerns regarding the levels of your driveline fluids, and to make sure to have them checked during your 5000mi multi-point inspection.

Since the "straw" that is used to set the fluid level is removable by unscrewing, surely someone is going to make a replacement straw that is long enough to allow the fluid level to be set when the transmission is at full operating temperature. No vacuum pump, adjustable straw tool, or OBD II jumping should really be necessary, and by checking at full operating temperature the thermostat will be open.

Please see post #158 in this thread, same idea.
Some one hopefully would step into this.

Wouldn't the dash warning light come on if the ATF fluid was low?

There is no dash warning indicator for low transmission fluid. There is one for low engine oil. The only transmission warning is overtemp. Look at the owner's manual starting at page 83 for all the lights including US and Canada.

I did see it in the owners manual. But would the overtemp mean low fluid also? If the ATF is low, wouldn't that make the transmission temp high?

    Thanks

There are two temp sensors in the transmission and I don't know if one or both of them provide the info back to the transmission ECU to light the dash. They are measuring the temp of the transmission fluid (liquid) at different points. It's not clear to me that the temp of the air inside the transmission would trigger an overtemp. There would likely be a lot of other issues going on if the fluid was low enough that the sensors were not bathed in transmission fluid.

Called Toyota corporate today and told them my truck had a delay between r and d and sometimes after the delay when it engages into gear, that a few time it was harsh. They called my dealer and within 15 min. my dealer called me and set up an appointment for this Monday @ 7am. Wrote down the details and got the case #. I will see if they will let go and watch them check the fluid. While I'm there I'll see if they will check the u joints as well. Will report back my findings.
