Just picked up a 2016 trd 4x4 longbed with about 11k miles. The frame has some surface rust around the welds but seen more around bolts etc. Is this common? I just picked up some fluid film as a prevention.

Posted pics any info would be appreciated.

Normal. Just touch it up with hi temp semi gloss. [for some reason it sticks better] and then use LPS3 or fluid film on the frame, especially at seams or welds.

You think that's rusty? Go crawl under some new Ram trucks at the dealer and you will instantly feel better lol.

Curious though, what area did you buy the truck from?

Thanks for the replies, I bought the truck in houston area (Baytown). Which they screwed me over. Wouldn't honor the agreed price over the phone (I lived an hour away so had to confirm price first before I drove out there). Asked if there was a tow package before the agreed price and sales guy said no but if you serious in buying it we'll have it installed by the time you get here included for the price of the truck. After I purchased the truck I come to find out the truck already had a tow package and he lied to me. Shady shit.

Also wouldn't just spraying with hi temp gloss paint cause it to just cover rust? Wouldn't water seep in behind the spray paint and cause it to rust without you knowing??

All those pics show surface rust on parts you don't need to worry about.

Keep an eye out for body rust and frame rust, in 20 years you might have a problem.
