2016+ URD Y-Pipe and Cat Back Exhaust

Yea I would like to know this as well.

 

They're around here, not too many of them. Expect a little bit more grunt, but I can't imagine it being too loud or droney. I upgraded to a three inch MBRP exhaust and.... its pretty loud. haha

 

why would u want to?

Dyno #’s. Review of install, quality, driving impressions.

 

I'd love to get you dyno numbers, but I drive an auto and don't have access to a dyno in my neck of the woods. However, I am always willing to travel to test!

Install was slightly rough due to the pipe holes being slightly too tight together tolerance wise. However, I'm fairly certain they changed this after my email/review. Driving impressions is this thing is loud! A bit raspy, but all in all pretty enjoyable. Coupled with the tune I KNOW my truck is faster, but more importantly, its more drivable. I'm very pleased.

 

so, i'm in the middle of all this right now. hope to finish up round one next week.

currently:
- URD mk2 Y pipe installed, rear cats removed.
- exhaust reroute for clearance.
- still on my TRD muffler.

performance: no dyno numbers. i don't care about that, but i do care about throttle response and control. the throttle is more responsive and flow is obviously improved. but it's not done yet and not quite where i want it. also on OV tune.

sound: for now it's gawd awful mostly, because i have removed the rear cats and kept the TRD muffler. the rear cats resonate significantly, so if you remove them and keep the rest of it you'll get the V6 buzz that everyone hates V6's for. and i has it. the low rpm under 2500 is still ok, sounds fine, but at 2500 you get the buzz and it just gets worse up higher.

i have purchased the next step, add a resonator and a performance muffler after that:

Thanks, you might want to consider a dynomax super turbo muffler ... cut out alot of rasp on my G8 GT a few years back... despite not being a heavy marketed muffler these days, they last decently long, are fairly cheap and their internal S design helps to cancel the bee's

that's what the Vibrant is all about. it's a straight pass through design, but the reviews are solid. it's a new combination from what i'm seeing so worth a try, and if i need to look at another muffler i'll do it. the Spintech is a really nice piece, just hoping it's not too loud.

 

I mean, whenever I record my truck doing obstacles it sounds like a dirt bike but thats cool, right?

 

I'm not sure. i have some trepidations about installing this Spintech cus those are often used as race mufflers. so i may know what you're talking about soon once it's all installed.

i swear tho one day I'm putting a V8 in this thing.

 

My coworker gets 24 highway in his new 6.2 GMC Yukon. Its just not fair. I really wish we could get a small v8.

 

New to site here. I have been looking into towing a travel trailer with my Taco found some concerns in regards to auto tranny temperature issues when towing. I was also interested in this Y pipe. Looking at URD’s web site seems that one the pipes run directly under the transmissions oil pan. To mean this is were you’d want to minimize heat. The pipe gets hot and may increase tranny fluid temps. just a thought.
