The front grill looks pretty cool head-on; the one pic that looked proportionally weird was the side view of the red one back on page 1. With the snout sticking out just as far as the bed, it had that funky "looks the same coming & going" feel to it. It just does not look like a truck! By comparison, the gen 2 with much less snout overhang looks much tougher & masculine.

Maybe it would look better proportionally with a long bed?

Anyway, just another useless opinion! Overall it's a nice looking truck.

It looks like a mid cycle refresh to me. The windshield/roof/doors/rear window all look identical to the 15. Are the tail lights LED? It doesn't appear so. The interior looks better from photos but that should be easy to accomplish with the length of time Toyota waited to redo the truck.

Everybody seem to be thinking about looks but what do you guys think about the 4.0L in 2015 to 3.5L in 2016? I like how the truck looks but I'm unsure about the power.

Eh? I'm concerned about 2016 running sluggish compared to the 2015 with 4.0L.

I like the 16 tacoma overall, I do think the front and the grill are too stretched out and give it a wierd look from the front on a side view it's bulkier but at the same time I'm not so sold on the grill I think Toyota went to far on that the interior it's still reminiscent of the 2nd gen just looks updated...I do think toyota could of added more standard features which I'm sure they probably will in the 17s and so on I have a 15 tacoma and I love thr hell out of it I could of waited for the 16s but I told myself I'll just wait it out until the last of this gen or possibly the next gen...when they add more features or make it more powerful

Why would it be sluggish? The 3.5 has more HP(278) and only 1 less ft/lb of torque(265).

This is the angle where the 16 looks the most terrible. I mean, the other angles aren't great, but wtf is going on with that front end? Looks like some drunken compromise between a Tundra and motor vehicle safety regulations.

That '15 looks painfully stock, but 2nd gen 4 lyfe

All the ones in Canada come with mud flaps. Toyota makes them so I am surprised they are not an inexpensive option for the US market.

Without them, up here the bottom of the doors and sills look like the metal has been sand blasted in about six months or one winter which ever comes first.

Toyota has shown recently that they do make improvements / changes early into life cycle ( Camry, RAV) so I expect this to happen to Tacoma, probably in 2018. By the vast amount of comments on grilles and power, expect changes at that time.

I actually test drove a TRD sport yesterday, black exterior and interior, made it look smaller on the inside. The hood is noticeably longer, lots of angles going on. Sweet riding truck overall, just not in the budget this year.....

My new 2016 3.5 is almost 5 MPG better than my 4.0 2011.

Nope the 2016 is much firmer stiffer and is a more responsive ride.

I've been under the 2016. It's the same frame my friend. :)

What looks better is all subjective. I own a 2016 so I can point out 10 things off the bat I like better than previous years. If I owned a 2015 I could do the same. This is an argument that will never be won. Who cares as long as you enjoy "your" ride. They are both great trucks.

No it is not they used much higher strength steel. In the new frame. You can tell the 2016 is a lot firmer more controlled ride I know I owned both trucks!
