Everything is wired up, just need to install the locker but I am up to Alaska for a week of skiing. As soon as we get some temps above freezing later this month, it will be going in. Will keep you all updated.

Where did you think you would mount resistor?

    Doing anything with lock light?

Resistor will be going up toward the battery to get some airflow then run the harness back from there. I am not going to worry about a confirmation indicator light, the switch panel has an internal indicator system that turns off if there is an interruption in the circuit.

    Cool
@johntoyota was asking about wiring up locker on his tacobox build. He will probably be interested in your results.

Having some issues with the 100v 1.5ohm resistor running up to 110c pretty quick at 4A and 14V, any suggestions besides mounting it to a big heat sink?

Ah, disregard. Found an old CPU cooler and that is keeping it at 50c without any issues passively. Going to wire up the fan to keep it under 40c,

    No
That's what you are going to get. Resistor is probably good for like 200C, although have to be careful with attached wires.

Can mount it where it gets airflow, or add more heat sink, or switch to a pwm rather than a resistor. It wouldn't be too hard to switch to a pwm circuit (probably $10-15) but it isnt nearly as robust, and much more likely to fail.

I want to make sure it is robust and won't fail after time. Fan runs great off the post resister power. I will just get this setup finalized and wire it in.

For robust, I think great. Maybe not the most compact, but not likely to fail. (Especially with the some radiator air flow.)

So running now on bench with resistor?

Btw, how hard will it be to get the wires into the diff housing? Is the connection already there, or have to drill?

Yep, have been running it for the last 20 minutes, hasn't broke 60c. I have a spot for it right under the aux power controller, going to fab up a little aluminum mount/guard for it now.

The diff appears to be the same model as on the offroad with a plugged in the wiring port, but I am not sure. I will have to get the 3rd member out to see for sure. Not a big deal if I have to tap a thread in there.

Update- Snowpocalpse 2019... just dug out 48" in 48 hours. Shoveling roofs ect. Locker is ready to be installed, just need less than 4 feet of snow around.

That is super useful for the older style that had a actuator fork. The new one is a eaton style electromagnet.

Ok, didn't know. Just thought it would help.
I want a rear locker, but 1600. (Arb lok, w/install) is not possible for a few months.
Be nice to get a salvaged off road rear.

Tapping a threaded connection into the diff. housing. Something like this:
