Yeah, not sure of when they switched but every color including white is water based with a clear coat

I have read that on the forums but havent seen it in person. I own a late 2019 Tundra in Super white and it is single stage. Maybe they are phasing it in.

All I know is that the manager of the body shop at my dealership told me more than once that Tacoma 3rd gen super white is not single stage.

Has anyone had any problems with their 2017 Tacoma Barcelona Red paint? I am seeing something starting to go on with my paint over the passenger door. I noticed it while waxing the truck this week. The paint is still in place but it looks like it is slightly discolored in a area about 6 inches long and about 2 inches wide. I thought I had missed a spot while wiping the truck off. The area wont buff out either. Its nothing like some of the pictures I have seen here and I doubt my camera will pick it up but that spot wasn't there last year. I think a visit to the dealer is in my near future.

I doubt you will find many Barcelona Red owners on my BBP thread, probably best to start your own you’ll get way more feedback. GL

Toyota would not fix my clear coat problem. They said it was damage from someone vandalizing and or spilling something on my hood. One other shop said the same. I doubt it. I turned it into my insurance as vandalism. 100 dollar deductible on comprehensive. Hood painted. Fabulous. Still think it's Toyotas problem. But my truck is cherry again so I'm happy

I had the same in my hood but buffing/waxing fixed it. These trucks really do have shitty paint.

2017 Tacoma from Baja Plant color Silver Sky Metallic. Out of warranty and just noticed my roof and possible the hood is deteriorating.

Thats pretty typical for roof paint in the Sun but I would think 6-7+ pyears not 3-4. My 2004 silverado did that after 10 years. The paint on these new Tacomas is embarrassing.

I have a 2018 and I Silver Sky Metallic with the same pain issue on the roof. Very disappointing that the pant and trim and a few other items on these vehicles is not better quality or, rather, falls short of expectation.

California has a Lemon Law. Have you thought about going that direction?

I have a 2018 TRD Sport, with about 38k that is having issues with clear coat loss and paint fade on the cab. The blue is turning white, but it's not just weather, but definitely a factor defect of some sort, due to the exact square pattern of paint loss.

Took it into Servco Waipahu, and all they could due was give me the number for the local Toyota quality complaint line, due to being out of warranty. The service rep, did tell me that they've been seeing this issue come up lately, especially in a lot of the grey colors.

It'll be a shame if Toyota won't do a recall of some type on these trucks, since its obviously a defect.
I'm curious if anyone else has seen this issue in their 2018's, and if so, hopefully you file a complaint.

    Bump….
I am having this issue on my 2016 with the BBP color.
Even though the extended paint warranty notice states 2017, I noticed the common thread seams to be trucks built/painted in Mexico. My truck was built in May 2016 in Mexico. I noticed another 2017 owner posted his truck was built near the end of summer 2016 in Mexico.
I’m going to call and see what I can get done.
