I know what you mean about the little chips of paint missing all over. My black '16 Tacoma access cab I bought new had under 7,744 miles on it when I traded it off this past February. Most of those miles were in town driving. Looked like someone peppered it with a shotgun. This Honda I traded for has good paint on it only thing I noticed they didn't spray clear coat on the door openings.

has anyone had theirs repainted yet? Toyota said they will fix it but I have problems on the roof, hood, and the front wheel panels and I’m concerned front half of my truck is going to end up a completely different color than the back. I almost wish they would paint the whole thing

Side note this is absolutely bullshit and terrible customer service by a company as large as Toyota.

    That looks pretty bad!
Did you ever wax or use a sealant?
Another good reason to use a ceramic coating on these thin CC.

I am currently having mine painted after talking to the dealerships for a while. When I took in the truck, we had originally looked at just the top of the cabin (my pictures were posted a while back) but when I took it in last week, the space above the door and cabin began to fade as well so be aware of that. The dealership is having an independent bodyshop do my paint job, but still waiting to see what it looks like.

Mine was only showing signs on the roof so they repainted the whole cab. Do yourself a favor and take pictures of the whole truck before dropping it off. I got mine back and both back windows were scratched deep from what I assumed was the guy polishing the roof. I had them replace both windows on their dime. If you don’t have pictures it’s hard to prove that the damage wasn’t pre-existing. It’s a good idea to do a walk around with the bodyshop manager.

No i never used wax or anything like that on it. Maybe I should have
I noticed mine 2 weeks ago, and even in that time frame I have noticed it getting much worse. I am assuming this is just a BBP problem? I have struggled to find any information on paint issues like this besides this thread.
That’s a good idea Mahana. Thanks

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
For the future -- I wonder if this has anything to do with the dropping of BBP for 2019? My truck looks fine now --hope this does not happen to me after some years down the road.
I am hoping it was just a bad batch of paint or "painters".

I wondered that too, would make sense for them to drop it if having issues.

Another big thanks to the EPA for forcing car manufacturers to use lesser quality paint to meet air regulations.

Yeah, definitely the EPA's fault Toyota's BBM is having quality control issues and all other colors are fine.

Apparently the clear coat on my roof is toast on my 2017 BBP DCSB OR. Took these photos at the dealership today...the tech said he has to send photos to Toyota to see if it's covered under warranty.

What a shame this is happening to you guys. When I got mine I Clay, Polish and use 2 coats of Ceramic coating on it to protect the paint which I know Toyota love to paint their vehicles thin. Hope you all get your rides respray.

I got mine all fixed under warranty. It looks as good as new, but still worried it may begin to fade somewhere else. Everyone should be covered. Do not let them tell you otherwise. IMG_1953.jpg

The dealer called and said they'd cover it under warranty. They are sending it to a body shop for paint this week. My concern is that I get the roof fixed and then my hood goes after I roll past 36k miles. Guess we'll see...

Exactly my concern. I took it in two weeks ago, and I noticed when I dropped it off that the section above the doors was also beginning to fade. They agreed to fix that too, but they said if I had any other problems I would have to get approved again. I am seriously considering getting rid of my 17 tacoma because of this issue. We'll see what happens.

Is this just an issue with BBP? I've seen other Tacoma paint colors chip easily, but seems like BBP has the most issues with paint. Any other colors doing this?

Wow, I didn't realize Toyota switched to water color paint. Ugh... I better keep an eye on mine.
