Sounds like a Mall Crawler comment! "I need to mod my tires, wheels and lift so I look cool driving over the curb at Walmart"

Except for the fact another poster mentioned he test drove this exact rig and noticed that it was trash, you're right. And you may never have bought a vehicle because of a test drive, but most of us have skipped buying a vehicle based on the test drive. Like that poster that mentioned the rig was garbage on the road...

Most of the problems people have with this truck should have been noticed during the test drive. Yes, you learn more as you spend more time with it, but the power and shifting issues some people don't like about this truck would have been noted if they were paying attention and thinking objectively about the truck instead of thinking:

"Oooh, oooh, I'm getting a Tacoma, the best truck ever made, Toyota is awesome, I can't wait to tell all my friends on Tacoma World that I got one!!!!!!"

I've seen several comments along the lines of "well, I thought the transmission was going to learn and everything was going to get better."

A rocket ship? You either give it full throttle all the time, or you don't know what a rocket ship is. These things aren't fast and only start to get moving screaming at 5 grand. Mine must be like a lightening bolt compared to yours without all the crap, unless you have a AC

I used to cruise doing 85 MPH in the old bulletproof 22-R 4 Cyl. What have they done to these trucks.

When you see a title that says "need a little help" and all you do is come in here and sh1t on the OP or make smart-a$$ comments because he didn't do what you would have done, YOU ARE THE ONE WITH A PROBLEM. He's asking for help. If you don't have any obvious suggestions to help, then go join a sadist/masochist forum so you can insult people who will enjoy it.

To the OP...your best option is going to be a re-gear...if you want to keep that lift and tires. Probably going to run you a couple grand installed. You may ask your dealer if they can install it and keep your warranty if you are concerned about that, but you will probably have to go with a different shop. The only warranty it should void would be anything that broke in relation to the new differentials causing a problem...of course there is always the matter of interpretation about what caused what. Good luck. It's a sh1tty feeling to spend $35K on a something and realize you aren't thrilled with it in short order.

To the OP: I was like you about 3 months ago when I purchased my 2017 TRD Sport but I now have 3,000 miles on it and feel like it has smoothed out at hwy speeds now that the transmission has learned my driving habits. Driving at 70mph no longer feels like a struggle.

Another word of advise, the longer you stay away from TW the more you will like your truck lol

OP that is one sweet boat. I think it is a little big for a taco to tow any distance. The tow limit with tow package is 6500 #s, but in my experience if your towing over 3500 or so pounds the tacoma is not the right truck for the job.

It would be a shame if it was left in neutral and rolled into your lake. Then you would have to deal with the insurance company totaling it and having to start all over.
