Everything seems to run great on my new '17, but when I drive on the highway around 70mph everything seems to change. It feels like I'm always struggling to maintain a speed of 70mph and it revs/jumps from 2k rpm to 3k rpm very aggressively and loudly if I'm trying to hold speed, making a relaxed pass or going up a slight hill. Nothing is ever a smooth speed increase above 65mph and just overall feels like the tuck is working too hard like it's hauling something.

Does anyone know what this could be? I absolutely hate driving on the highway now.

Normal. That's kind of what the truck does man. The transmission does learn your driving habits though and will progressively get a bit better as time and miles go on. Search the forums for the Rev 1 TSB, see if it describes what you're experiencing and if so take it and the truck to the dealer. Good luck.

I believe there is a TSB for the auto, check with your dealer, free flash should help...

T-Rex grill with black bezel. Blacked out all the badges and added the Tacoma on the tail gate. The windows have been tinted to the darkest law will allow.
Keep it in 5th gear and you'll love it.

PHYSICALLY make sure the tranny is full of fluid...!! Do not accept the dealer saying...."we checked it and it's OK"... they use the "puter" to do that... only a physical check will get you to the right level..!

Lots of 16's and 17's are coming out very low on fluid...!

I filled my own, cuz they would not..It was about 1 1/2 qt low.. It now runs real nice... No issues...

No shit man... make sure it's full...!! Then go from there IF you have an issue.!!

It's just trying to stay in the highest gear to get the best gas mileage. I just push the ECT button if there's hills and such then it'll stay in the lower gear longer and more power... but little bit worse gas mileage..

I've learned that if I keep the truck at about 78 mph, it will stay in 6th gear, and get a lot better gas mileage.

If you would of gotten a 4cyl 5 speed like god intended toyota pickups to be, you would not be having these problems.

Mine does it too. Constantly have to throttle to override the very active transmission. I do a lot of city driving and from what I read here the vehicle computer system is adapting to my driving. Sounds like you're going through the same.

I'm not a geezer by any means but real geezers buying this truck wouldn't like it.
