Hey guys just a heads up took my 2017 tacoma in for service yesterday and they discovered a coolant leak. The leak was on the passenger side rear coolant cross over pipe. I had lost maybe 1 quart of coolant not sure how long it has been leaking. I will update after they say it is fixed!!!!they also said that they had been seeing a lot of this!!!

Thanks for the notice. I went out to check mine and all looks good. I always take a magic marker and put a dot on the overflow tank for the coolant at the level when new. I do this for the brake fluid reservoir , and on this Tacoma there is one for the power steering fluid. Makes it easy to glance at it and see all if all is the well .

They just called me and said my truck would not be ready for tom and that it is going to take them approximately 12-14 hrs of labor to get to this hose. I will update when I get it tom they showed me the leak it was just above the passenger side exhaust manifold on back of engine!!! I can't believe this is taking this long. What worries me now is brand new truck and having to take the whole top part of engine off that crazy for just one little hose/pipe. They gave me a 17 corolla for free rental and have been keeping it in sport mode having fun

Oh boy that is no good. Sorry to hear about this OP. I also have had a lot of trips to the dealer for various issues. You are not alone. Toyota has their work cut out for them with this generation.

I'll check mine there. Every once and a while I get a faint smell of coolant. But the level hasn't gone down much if at all.

Last wheeling trip someone commented on the smell too.

Is this the spot where a TW member mentioned potential issues? He made some modifications to a bracket or something to give more clearance... I still haven't looked at my truck in that spot to check the clearance, thanks for the reminder

OPs leak is not the same thing but since you brought it up, l did check that bracket on my truck and ended up having to take it off and grind it down.

They just said it was a rear crossover pipe not sure exactly what that was but when I go get her I will post up pictures of the problem area for everyone to see. I could also smell a slight smell of coolant u could see a dried up spot on the passenger side flange from the Manifold where it bolts to the exhaust pipe just down near firewall.

It is right on the front of the engine with a small hose under it, Toyota is obviously aware of it being close tolerance as they put some abrasion sleeve over the hose but the clearance on mine was only the width of a piece of paper. When it stops raining l can try and snap a pic but it is also on here somewhere in another thread if you need to see right away.

Oh man. I hope mine isn't leaking. Knowing my luck they won't warranty that either.

I think they told me 60,000 miles warranty is factory period which I did not add any additional I have had 4 other Tacoma with over 200,000 and never had a problem except routine maintence. Mine is coverd thank God it would be $1200 in labor Probably. I will have to check out that bracket when I get her back!!!thanks Shacker for that info I have been away from the form for a bit but will be around here more. Forms are new to me so still trying to figure it all out.

Here is the Bracket that rubs on that Hose, I ended up grinding a bit off of mine as I could only slide a piece of paper in there.

Is that the spot that OP had trouble with?

I've smelt coolant before with my truck. VERRRY faintly. I, surprisingly in hindsight, didn't think much of it. Just thought it was a hot newer engine.

No, he said his leak was at the back of the engine under the Intake, I was just showing the front where a future leak could happen.
