So get ready to slander me in the worst ways possible. Im currently the owner of a 2006 2-wheel drive Toyota Tacoma.. I was trying to save a few bucks when I bought it and I said to myself "it never snows in Seattle" so I opted not to get the 4x4. Needless to say the second the ground was cold that truck couldn't go anywhere. Forget going to the mountains for a ski day that truck barely stays on the road in the rain. If I had a time machine I would go back and slap my past self and get the 4x4. However I do not have a time machine. So instead I have decided to be a present day grown up and buy a "real" mans truck. I basically just drive on roads to and from work, I occasionally want to drive to where the snow is and Im probably never going to tow anything. I do haul loads of dirt or bags of concrete sometimes for house projects.

So my questions are as follows:

    How much should I pay for a 2017 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 Access Cab SR5 V6 Auto 6-speed?
Is the best way to get the lowest price to just start sending emails to all the dealers?
Do I need the V6?(Ive seen the other threads but most people tow things or go off road)
Is the SR5 anything more then chrome bumpers?(Chrome, gross!)

Again I learned my lesson on trying to save a few bucks so Im leaning towards the SR5 and the v6 but I wanted some 'professional' opinions.

Thanks everybody...(I copied and pasted this from the "New" thread)

You can get the invoice price for the truck up in the Sticky Section and try to work from there.

I´ll save you the hassle, I have lazy days too.

    So, for your other questions.

How to buy a truck for the best price, check this link

To see the differences between the models go to Toyota.com and you can download a brochure of the Tacoma and do a side by side comparison of what features are included or available on each. I can´t do all the work for you.:D

According to the list above, the MSRP price to upgrade from a SR5 per the OPs specs, to a TRD Sport is $1,925.00. You get rid of the chrome bumpers, and pick up several options such as the entune with nav., keyless ign., and other things for under $2k.

Pony up and buy the 4x4 offroad and never worry about where you can go. The price tag stings a bit but if you're gonna do it, do it right.

Nah.. Im not going Off Road and i really don't want to be the guy that commutes to work in a lifted 4x4. My posering has its limitations.

That is tempting but I have an iPhone so I don't think I need their NAV equipment.

@Daddy-O Thanks for the info! The how to buy a tacoma link was great. Which of the numbers should I be aiming for(New MSRP, Old Invoice, Old MSRP)?

I believe the list was updated for 2018, therfore the new Invoice is not listed. If you are looking at getting a 2017 shoot for Old Invoice, plus about 500 dollars.

One more Noob question.. when I buy the truck do I want to avoid all the extras (floor mats, bed mats etc..) are all the aftermarket accessories better and cheaper? or is it best to get them now?

Get a factory bed mat, worth the money and you should be able to get a good deal on one.

2017 4x4 DCSB SR5 V6 Auto here. It has the tow package, which I recommend, and NO dealer accessories. I was able to negotiate ~ 10% off MSRP. I added Goodyear floor mats, a Toyota bed mat, and Lund 5 inch nerf bars for ~ 300.00. I specifically looked for one with no dealer accessories to keep the cost down.

I'm in TN. Bought an AC SR5 4x4 V6 last month. Paid $31,076 + TTL.

It came with All Weather Floormats (which were immediately replaced with WT), Mud Flaps, and Bed Mat. I like the bed mat and I'm indifferent on the Mud Flaps.

    Hope that helps.
