A lot of people are talking about the trd pro but I don't see much talk about the pricing. The new Tacoma looks really good while the tundra is extremely outdated and the 4 runner gets updated pretty regularly and probably will be soon. Why do all 3 pro models have the same MSRP? Would any of you pick a 2017 Tacoma pro over the 2017 tundra pro and why?

I think there's thousands of people that have picked the Tacoma pro over the tundra.

The Tacoma pro is actually built to off road with a lot of upgrades like the fox shocks where as the tundra is basically a tundra in the pro color options.

    Debatable...
While the Tacoma is probably more capable, the tundra shares a lot of the same type of upgrades the Tacoma does.

Not suspension, which is the most important offroading upgrade. The rest if cosmetic

Really simple. Assess how bad you need a truck. If you have the funds for a Pro and don't use the bed often, then you really should consider the 4Runner Pro.

I've actually got a Tacoma pro on the way. I see a lot of tundras around Texas and they are very tempting I just don't know why they are the same price. Debated the 4Runner for a bit too but I like the Tacoma better. Just curious what others think about Tacoma vs tundra when they are the same price.

There are a couple of nice Pro's in my area. They are very nice. If they had a moonroof and different color options, I would have considered one. Good luck with yours. Post pics when you get it.

The Tundra OR and Pro doesn't come with an e-locker either does it? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember at least a few years ago that it wasn't a factory option for Tundras. That's the most important offroading upgrade IMO, along with suspension. Those 2 things put the Tacoma far ahead of the Tundra for wheeling purposes, not to mention it's sized more practically for most trails.

Not to say a Tundra can't be built well for wheeling, I've seen some badass ones...f***ing tanks though, lol.

Not that I'm voting tundra, but it does come with upgraded suspension.

Right from Toyota USA about the Tundra pro

"TRD PRO Bilstein Shocks with Remote Reservoirs and TRD-tuned Front Springs Rough terrain can make for hard landings, but these TRD Bilstein shocks take the edge off some of the intense abuse. You’ll get additional wheel travel and a softer ride, with no compromise to on-road stability."

The Tundra Pro also Does NOT come with a locking rear diff.

To me it comes down to a size thing, if you need/want the big tundra fill your boots, if not the taco is nice, and if you really don't need the bed, the 4 runner is nicer.

money wasn't a major concern for this purchase for me this time fortunately, so i considered all three. i big powerful tundra would be nice, and a 4R of course. but neither has an MT option so couldn't actually consider either. all my concerns have been validated. the Taco Pro was a perfect choice for me. only complaint is a bit more room in the back for the kids.

I'm with you with the rear seat room. pretty much why I'm in a 4runner trail edition for a family rig.

Taco was better sized. It's more capable and this might only apply to me, but way less thirsty. I have a 100+ mile commute and a V8 on the freeway that often is going to get expensive fast.

So in a way, for my uses, the Taco does everything the Tundra will do, some things the Tundra can't, and is cheaper to operate.

I did like the seats in the Tundra better though.

That's hardly upgraded. Some of the Tacoma's come with the Bilstein suspension also. The fox racing shocks are what set the Tacoma pro apart. If you can the dealership they want $7,000 to upgrade to it.
