Agree the photo sucks ass, looked at Les shwab site and can only find one load index for their "backcountry" in 265/70/17 maybe I'm not looking in the right place

Edit look3d at size chart yes I see the C

Your pic shows both are LT versions. 2 different plys, 2 different load ratings, 2 different tread depths would be my guess as to why the 285 is slightly taller.

285/17's here.. no CMC required. MINOR fender trimming.. all depends on your wheel offset though

So if you have a 285/75/R17 on a TRD PRO with no chopping, no rubbing, I should be able to put a 285/75/R16 with little to no problem!

You said you have offset. What size and brand offset you have? and are they safe to put on?

17x8 5mm offset They are the TRD knockoff wheels from ebay. Excellent quality in my opinion.

A lot of aftermarket wheels can be ordered in different offsets.

All wheels have an offset, how much is determined by how the wheel is made. Look up the wheel specs to get offset and if it is not provided there are many online calculators to help determine offset.

He is running 285/70/17 which is a slightly smaller tire than 285/75/16. TRD pro wheels are +13 offset.

285/75r16 KO2's, Baja XL 80's on CBI ditch brackets, TRD intake, opticoat pro, clear bra running the bottom sides, morimoto LEDs, all white LEDs inside, mounted shovel and axe above wheel well in the bed, linex'd the bed...
I'm running 285/75r16 no problem and I actually off road. If you're staying on the road you will have absolutely no problem at all.
