CRAP! That sucks! I love that R32. If I didn't need the utility of a truck I would probably buy myself a Golf R. But she deserved a new car. In the almost 20 years we've been together I have owned I think 4 new vehicles to 1 for her. So she bought herself a 17' Chevy Volt. Then a few months later we find out my Jeep has a leaky head gasket.:boom:

That's a good one to have as your first. I think my first new vehicle I ever purchased on my own was a 1995 Ford Aspire:

I have been disappointed with mpg also. First tank was around 15 (but I did a lot of idling as I was programming the truck and exploring it when it was so new). Second tank was up to 16 and this third tank was up to 17. About to cross 1,000 miles and break-in period is over. I did notice on a highway trip yesterday I was getting 20.

Go manual transmission. 100%. So many complaints with the A/T and this generation Tacoma. I know some people say they have no issues, but it is so much better to control the shifting yourself.

I like the double cab, but I have 2 kids. I wouldn't have picked another cab option.

This PRO is my first Tacoma - so I can't help you with the engine difference. It seems sufficient.

I agree with you on sound system 100%. I turned in my 550i with Harman Kardon sound. It was the best car audio system I have ever heard. This Entune system is horrible in comparison. I have to turn it up to 40 on the volume just to get decent sound. I am eventually going to explore after market solutions to this - as I love hearing good tunes in my vehicle. But you are missing nothing with the JBL system either. My wife has that in her Highlander and it is pretty damn weak IMO.

I like the hood - but that is personal preference I guess.

You can wirelessly charge an iPhone - you need to order a Qi case off Amazon.

I love the PRO grille in front with retro "Toyota." I agree with you on the tailgate labeling though. I don't think they needed to imprint Tacoma AND have 4x4 AND have TRD PRO on there. Too much.

Manual or AT? I wonder if the difference is as high as EPA says.

Hey guys! New guy here. Perspective buyer. The TRD pro got me interested in the Tacoma. I currently drive a 2 door Jeep Rubicon, but really mis having a truck. Love the Jeep, but its kind of getting old as a daily driver.

My local yota dealership is telling me that I have to put $1000 down to order the Pro and that it takes 8 months!? They also will not budge on price and the deposit is in ADDITION to msrp!! I thought the 2017 Pro wasnt a limited edition. I have a hard time paying $1000 over msrp and waiting 8 months for a vehicle. Is this a load of BS? Should I be looking for a different dealership? How long are you guys waiting to take delivery?

No one is paying $1000 + MSRP on a PRO.

your dealer is a moron. Go on auto trader. Find a PRO (many sitting unsold). Buy a ticket on Southwest and drive it home.

Or wait for the Jeep Wrangler Truck coming out soon.

you really need to spend time browsing back in this forum and seeing purchase experiences for the Pro. it's limited run and you're coming a little late to the party so there's hype and lots of folks in line.

every dealer is different. yours is probably half full of shit about the 8 months... they don't know. you don't order, you gamble that the dealer you give your deposit to will even get a Pro... they don't know and there's no guarantee.

i placed my deposit, a $0.00 hold, on 8/26 or something and got my truck, an MT Pro, about 13-14 weeks later. i paid 41,300.

a solid suggestion is to buy an OR and mod it up a little if you like the Pro bit. that's the only way to get you in one in a realistic timeframe unless you just get crazy lucky. wanting AT or MT?

So I spent a lot of time looking for one. Wanted a Cement Gray M/T. Have you looked at cargurus.com? Try that site. I found a few in nearby states, but usually they would be pre-sold or be gone before I called. Finally, I went to my local dealers. There are four in my area. One told me it would take 6 months. Others wouldn't guarantee anything. All required a $1,000 deposit - but it was TO BE APPLIED to purchase price. That is crap that they were trying to keep your deposit. They will not negotiate on going below MSRP because of the demand of these trucks - so that part is true. You will pay MSRP minimum (there have been a few exceptions on here, but it is rare).

My advice would be to go to the nearest HIGH volume dealer in your area (#1 in sales) and ask if they are getting any allocations for these trucks. I put a deposit down in mid October, build date was early December, and I took possession on Dec. 26th. One day too late for best Christmas present ever, but I was beyond excited.

    Good luck!

    That's rediculous

I put a $500 REFUNDABLE deposit down when they placed the request

There's no guarantee your dealer even has an allocation

Besides. In 8 months 2018's will be close to rolling
