Let the countdown begin! My salesman sent me an email of the activity of the truck through the build process and rail status. It made the time before it actually showed up even more nerve racking. Keep your head up and I dare you to get any sleep the night before you pick it up. Congrats!

That's basically what I'm up against. I have a $1,000 deposit in at my local "high volume" stealership and a month later they have no answers on allocation.

"Noonish Friday" I'm told. That's tomorrow, so if I don't have solid info on my MT Cement Pro, I'm demanding my deposit back.

For anyone else in the same boat: if you didn't sign anything stating the terms of your deposit, it's 100% refundable. Period.

:crapstorm: I'm going to buy a Ridgeline Black edition if I don't get a definite answer on the TRD Pro tomorrow. There are so many things I love about the Ridgeline, it is a close decision in my view. :crapstorm:

Ridgeline black edition is amazing. Way more truck than the Pro.

Wow, great choice! 2017 "truck" of the year! :)
LOL. Enjoy the faux rubber seal panel gap between the cab and "bed". You won't have to pick lodged rocks out of there or clean mud because that gap is less than 2" deep.

When you were on the Ridgeline engineering team, was that one of your ideas? :)

Hell no!! I was on the interior side early on. I did ask about that though... everyone did. They even touted the idea of a pass through like a sedan from cab to bed. LOLOL

Its limited in production yes. The new Tacomas themselves are in high demand, let alone a Pro some dealers in California were asking $4k over MSRP, so $1k isn't out of the question as many are paying MSRP for a PRO.

The ridgeline has some really cool features, most would argue here its not really a truck, but it serves a certain customer's needs. Find it weird though that you were looking at a PRO which is designed and for off roading type buyers, where is the ridgeline is the complete opposite. It seems like you should think about what you are gonna use your truck for and what you want and then go from there as these two vehicles are pretty polar opposite. GL.

There are 56 unsold Tacoma Pro on Auto Trader. If people want to look outside of their 10 mile comfort zone, one can be easily had, for less than MSRP (dealers are asking MSRP before negotiation) and without waiting . :)

Well it looks like OP is in a high demand area, I agree, if you venture outside the Tacomaland areas there are better deals to be had.

A woman from CO (TW member) just bought new 6MT Cement PRO in CA and drove it back. Albeit this is the first time I heard of a member here buying in CA, since all 6 PRO owners I know locally went to OR/NV to get their trucks :D

    Market has definitely changed...

I have a pretty built rig for off road already, but my vision for the TRD Pro is that it would handle my basic truck needs, while looking cool and being tough (if I did want to take it off road.)

If I'm going to buy something I always buy the best version of it. For the Taco, I like the somewhat exclusive nature and good looks and manual transmission on the TRD Pro. Plus, I'm a Toyota guy. I currently have 6 of them between work vehicles and personal.

So for my use, the Ridgeline also makes sense. I'm not going "mudding" and the Ridgeline has plenty of capability, along with a lot more luxury. In my view, they are compelling trucks-both of them-in different ways, but able to do most of the same things.

What time tomorrow will you make your decision?

Toyota picks up the requests once a month from the dealers. They then determine if it's allocated to the dealer. Then it's put in queue for build

You may have placed deposit after Toyota picked up the requests last month

My understanding is MT are built once a quarter. The Pro is 5% of total production. Good luck

Took me 5.5mths to get mine in MT

Black Edition, yes. Probably around 1 tomorrow. If the Toyota dealership has a commitment on MT and a date, I will stick it out and pay $1,000 over msrp from them. If they don't have concrete (cement?) info, I will pull my deposit and get the Ridgeline.

Part of it for me is the Toyota dealership itself. They have done a poor job of explaining their process and setting expectations. An email from me to my internet sales manager takes a week to get an all lower-case, unprofessional and incomplete response.

The Honda dealership on the other hand, has their act together, communicates clearly and timely.

I know this won't make sense to some of you-as to why that part of buying a vehicle should matter-but partly because I'm a business owner and partly because I've purchased about 15 new cars (many in the last 6 years) from this Toyota dealership, I'm ready to walk from them based on their poor CRM alone.

    Makes sense

I am on vehicle #47 with average of them lasting a few months to a year max

    So I understand your dilemma

I will check back around 1pm

I am very curious to see how the Ridgeline is if you get it and if good enough I might trade my Pro for one too

    Please please keep us posted
