If its true they're only making 150 (5%) TRD Pro's in MT, I'm now convinced I've missed the boat. I've already inquired on another model just below in MT in hopes to get what I'm looking for minus the Fox suspension and all the cosmetics the TRD Pro is coming with. In theory it was neat to think I'd have 1 of 150 but that was only in theory, reality has creeped in and I'm on to the next...

This is exactly what I experienced at one dealership. The other I've been working with told me the same thing as the previous guy, basically that they're out of manuals.

I'm going back and forth now between a non-Pro manual, or just switching to the automatic. Leaning towards getting the Pro. My FR-S six-speed isn't going anywhere, so I'll still have that.

I'm still happy with my 2014 Taco Sport. No worries on the '17 Pro. But it has to steam somebody's shorts knowing that I would have thrown in my equity to purchase a new PRO, right?

    I suspect "dealer-speak" here, gents...

It's a slight exaggeration but it's been advertised several times by STi engineers that the tranny is hand-built and competent for racing. I believe it's always been good up to 400+ hp in stock form.

Spoke with the dealer today. It's in their allocation. Build date for My Cement order 8/8. More to come.

Hey everyone. Been reading the threads on this website for awhile and finally decided to create an account.

Locked in on buying the '17 Pro. However, both Dealers in my area continue to claim they have no knowledge of schedules and cannot place an order for me. Instead, I have to wait and see what they get, if any '17 Pros. I'm getting frustrated bc I see evidence of orders being placed on this forum.

Any advice for me? Other than trying Dealers outside my area. I've already committed $250 down payment to one of the Dealers which I have receipt for and is refundable. Starting to think/realize that down payment was nothing but a sales ploy and actually worth nothing if they can't even place an order for me.

    Thanks.

Unfortunately it's all marketing speak. There is nothing special about that tranny. It's neither 'hand built' or 'race ready'

It's actually an excellent transmission. I don't know what kind of experience you have with STi's but I thoroughly enjoy driving mine.

Nothing wrong with the STi transmission, but calling it 'hand built' and 'race ready' is a huge stretch.

That's like calling the Tacoma OR BAJA 1000 ready.

I put a deposit on a cement manual but last week the dealer told me he only could see one manual in the build schedule and it was white. I switched to an automatic and I'm waiting for his next allocation to see if it's confirmed.

Yeah, I'm not sure sure about that original dealer's statement. This is not what I have heard. For the first allocation, there were supposedly no manuals were being made for that first run. I don't think they have said no manuals at all. Otherwise, why tell the public that they would be making them?

This is what will drive up the cost of the Pro. Dont get me wrong its a cool truck but theres really no reason that toyota cant just build as many of them as they can sell. Their making them hard to find on purpose to drive up prices. If everyone said "eh, i dont want a pro" then they would sit on the lot and be sold as reasonable prices. Paying over sticker for anything is insane.

I found 3 more TRD Pro's today coming in Sep on allocation and all are being sold at MSRP which I feel is fair. I dont usually pay MSRP for anything but in this case I feel it's justified.

What even is MSRP? That's what's baffling so many willing to buy something at a price they have no idea will be.

LMFAO. It's a fucking truck, not a Bugatti. I hate it when manufacturers try to make their shit seem like it's all that and a bag of chips. Thanks folks at Toyota, I'll buy a TRD Sport 6MT and throw a lift and a better stereo at it. With the money I saved I'll fill the bed of the truck with hookers and dope and call it a good day. Oh, and I won't have to contend with the fugly badges in the fenders. Seriously.

...and yes I do get the fact it's all OEM and some people want a Pro to say they have a Pro. I'll even get a license plate that reads NTAPRO.

A dealership will never give you a discount on a PRO. They only get 1 or 2 a year and they will usually charge about 5k more then MSRP on them you can expect them to be around 45k. I would get the Offroad or Sport and then make it look good like the PRO if you like the look! There is not really a good enough advantage to getting the PRO unless you just want everyone to know you drive one. They are not worth the extra coin.

I was the Tacoma Champion at my Toyota Dealership, I was sent to spokane wa to release the 2016 Tacoma in our PNW region and then taught everyone about it at my dealership. I know these trucks!

and it is true!!!! The dealer gets what they get and are allocated. If you see someone write that they have put a down on one from there dealer they are wrong. The Dealer did a simple tactic in the sales trade. They wrote him up and have his file ready with a check or a "down Payment" and when they get one in "eventually" they will call him up and say its ready. If you "ordered" a specific one then once the dealership gets there PRO they will call another dealership who has your exact one and do a dealer trade.

Well you can use the configuration tool for 2106 models, build an OR or Limited and expect it will be somewhere north of the OR or around/just below a LMTD. With that I have decent understanding of what to expect with pricing.
