$42K is right on the money of what I thought it would cost. Now that I see the new Raptor - hmmm... Very tempting.

So I was looking at the TRD Pro specs on the press release and the Toyota website and I think they changed the rear shocks that were on the original prototypes/press release. The original rear shocks were Fox 2.5 with external remote reservoirs. Now it seems like Toyota changed it to be Fox 2.5 internal bypass shocks. They got rid of the external reservoirs. Just to be sure, does anyone else remember the original TRD Pro press release saying rear remote reservoirs? I looked at the original press release on the Toyota website and it doesn't mention rear reservoirs. I'm pretty sure they changed the original release.

another thing i noted is I thought i heard the rear leafs were tuned to Pro but press release states they are the same leafs from the TRD off road...

That's the other thing I've been wondering about. When describing the rear suspension, they say "TRD-tuned rear suspension with progressive-rate off-road leaf spring". But then under the spec list, they say " TRD-tuned rear suspension includes progressive-rate leaf springs from TRD Off-Road models". From the first statement, it makes it seem like the leaf springs are specifically tuned for the Pro but the seconds says the opposite. Does anyone know if the leaf springs in the TRD OR is different from the other models (Sport/Limited/SR/SR5)?

I guess Toyo is leveraging the "disclaimer" shared at both shows of the new TRD Pro.

2016 TRD OR has 4 leaf springs vs the remaining models having only 3.

I understand the appeal of the PRO, but why pay for one when it doesn't even come with a 3" lift and 33's? That is usually the first thing people do to their trucks.
Doesn't it make sense to pay less for the Off-Road and put the lift and suspension you want on it instead of removing suspension that you paid extra for to get what you really want?

I feel the price increase is deceiving. For example on the Pro 017, leather and tech pkg are essentially standard options : Tech @ $2350 & Lthr @ $1649 if you were building one from base using 016 options which this platform is built on. Those (2) = $3999 and were not standard in 015 if I recall. Was tow pkg standard in 015 also?

Generally, guys getting the Pro, like me, are not interested in modifying their trucks.
Another reason to get the Pro is the exclusive paint color, interior, option of having a manual (not my thing tho, atleast for a pickup) and the interest in owning something a little more special than your average Offroad.

    All stock baby!
Sad to read all the talk of additional dealer markup for these. I ordered a regular 2017 OR and the guy tried to push the 2 of these he had allocated as they would be his first 17s, or close to it with a late aug date. I joked that they would be selling at a premium i wouldnt pay and he replied they'd sell at invoice like the other internet deals. Now i dont know cause i didnt want one but he really didnt stand to gain anything by saying that to me. Its lame to read of 5k markups. I like the ride but its hard to justify any toyota at msrp let alone above that. Good luck.

Here are the pics of the front and rears. This was the "prototype" at the Dallas auto show.

So a TRD Off-Road Auto w/ Premium package would cost me $37,070 (not including PDH). But this doesn't include better springs/shocks, TRD exhuast, Skid plate, leather seats, nifty blacked-out lights, a nicer grill (IMO), LED fog lights, floor mats, an exclusive color (if you like the cement), and of course the skewp...not to mention that it's all under warranty and will certainly hold its value better than a modified OR? I'd say that's worth the $5,690 difference (for me anyways). I can't wait!

Don't forget the fancy gear shift knob either!
Our Pros come with the tow package as well which if not mistaken is an option on the other models?
Not having the option for JBL Audio is bummer tho or a moonroof but honestly the moonroof isn't a huge thing for me. I live in Arizona where it's hot a lot so I rarely have the cover open on the one in my Subaru. I only have the glass open all the way at nights in the winter and even then I barely notice it when it's open anyways. A little fresh air is nice but it's kinda... pointless.
Are all Tacomas made in San Antonio or just the Pros? The premium price would be worth it to me if the rest of the line up was made down in Mexico.
I don't mind the wheels either! The Pros get spacers with a wider stance which is cool too. Only thing I'm gonna change on the truck is put on some All-Terrains down the road cuz those Wranglers are a joke.
