Good luck OP. Maybe the transport ship it was on had to evade pirates or got caught in a storm and the truck was tossed around a bit in the container jk. Good luck getting this resolved.

Really wanted this Trd pro to replace my 2007 Trd off road. My 2007 was the best truck I ever had and I sold it to buy this piece of shit! I’m done with Toyota trucks, the quality has gone to shit.

I wouldn’t return a truck over that. I would be mad but your going to get those same chips from driving on the road let alone off road. Now about those scratches in the door jams I would get mad over and have a body shop fix it and send them the bill

I am late to the party hope he got a resolution to this.

I run an auto body shop and see a lot of this on vehicles that have accidents early in their life so I can inspect manufacturing paint defects often. I am viewing this on my phone screen but Some of those spots look like dirt that got in the clear coat during the painting process. My 2018 sr5 has some as well as a 2017 Mercedes we are working on this week. It happens no matter how good the painter, booth, environment, or technique is it happens. And most manufacturing plants don’t wet sand and buff after painting. I will be surprised if the dealer takes care of it. I do not recommend having the dealer or service department try to take care of this. They will require wet sanding and polishing to remove and those guys are well sales people, managers, and mechanical technicians.

Some of the spots look like they could be bonded contaminants (debris, rail dust, environmental fall out) like stated above a clay bar can take more than likely take care of it.

The scratches in the door jamb I can’t explaib besides they are scratches. possibly from the pre dealership prep or unloading it off the trailer.

    This.

I worked at a car dealership, shit like that happens, believe me. At the price these pros cost, you deserve a proper paint repair. Don’t back down! Definitely get an estimate from a reputable body shop. Remind the dealership manager that word of mouth advertising is priceless, and you know a lot of people who buy cars. They wouldn’t want to miss out on the referral business, would they? You can spin it positive like that, otherwise you could offer to tell everyone, and the mailman to steer clear of their store.

They took back the lemon and paid my loan in full and completely refunded my down payment:) I was right and they knew it. Don’t know what to get next but I think I’m done with Toyota for awhile. I’m a persistent Mofo if I have to be.

I know this is an old post but I bought a 2018 4Runner TRD Pro its super white in July. I have been having the same problem. Before my 5k service i noticed a bunch of rust specs all over my rig and told them about it when i took it in. i had bought the permaplate coating which is a ceramic coating the dealer offered. So they told me that i would have to file a claim through that company to get it fixed.(oct.1st) so i did after a week they sent out an adjuster to check the problem. he told me that it was just rail dust all over my car, and that it could be fixed with a clay bar and buffer. so they set me up an appointment with a body shop to get it fixed. i dropped my car off the following week and a couple of days later they called and said that is was done and i could pick it up. i went to pick it up and there was still rust spots all over it, so i called the dealership that i bought it from. they told me to bring it in and let them take a look at it.(oct.31) i took it down there and they were like we see this all the time we can fix it. They had it for about two days and told me it was done to pick it up.(nov.2) when i got down there i started to check it out and noticed that they were still all over my vehicle. i pointed out spots they had missed and told them that they should check the whole car under better light.(nov.6) they once again said they would fix it (nov.8). They then told me again they had got all of the spots they can see. the dealership then told me they wanted met to come down when the body guy was there so i could point them out and he could fix them on the spot. couldnt get down there cause i was working. they then contacted me to come put a piece of tape on all of the spots so they could find them better.(nov.9) i went back down there to show and tape all the spots.(nov.14) i honestly came off the chain when i got down there to see that they still hadnt corrected the problem. the service manager and i taped every spot on my rig i would say around 1000 spots total. he told me that they were going to send it to a body shop to get it sprayed down with iron x. iron x is a chemical that is suppose to eat the iron that is stuck in the paint. before i left i told him to use the tape as a reference but to remove it before it was treated because there was some spot under the tape. (nov.19) it was done went to pick it up. they treated it with iron x left the tape on it and there was still spots on it. the guy was going to treat it again on (nov.20). got a call today that stated the body shop ran out of ironx on this treatment and he wouldnt get it done until (nov.26 or 27). I did notice a bunch of those spots like teahupoo had on his paint. i told them that i wanted a new one that i was done running around for over a month and paying for a "new" car that i havent had for a month. they told me that i would lose a bunch of money if they bought it back and that i would have to get a lawyer to get a new one. i honestly dont know what to do. i have honestly had all i can take from this dealership.

Yeah I have had them involved the whole time. The dealership told them that I was satisfied with the job they had done & they only had a few more spots to get off. So they are on the dealerships side it has been clay bared 4times and now the ironx treatment 3 times. There is multiple spots around each piece of tapeF3874D3D-BF7C-4E06-A0A2-FA0161BE6749.jpg B6B1BBE9-2BD2-41AB-9F6C-6E9A55EBBB23.jpg 131A4C40-86DD-40D3-9E34-8BF6D567B774.jpg CEFEA650-99BC-4904-91A7-043BD0746271.jpg 231B1A07-C933-4AAF-A924-E978C5748509.jpg 82FD9C74-84AA-4486-A4E7-FA7813EA09C9.jpg 2F62B4BA-016B-4C06-8C73-34B03C890761.jpg 7790D9B0-E3E3-4DC4-ABFA-50C2940D8859.jpg DA2D80A5-743A-4C6B-8F7F-EACF8CCDF400.jpg 925F0988-BD43-4C4B-BA8B-B58F548FD4D0.jpg CDF0156F-595D-44C8-98BB-CEE190BAE6B8.jpg AAE06B3B-38A0-4C0A-A128-845FCE630682.jpg

IronX can be bought on Amazon for like $30 a bottle. It does work and you can get it done in your own garage at home in about an afternoon. The bodyshop they used is probably waiting for their Amazon shipment to arrive.
