It is an overlay and not an actual badge but you are welcome to it.

I've been in the hunt for OEM black badges too. I really prefer OEM parts when possible and my hang up with the overlays is that I've heard from others that the chrome peeks out even after proper install. That would kick my OCD into overdrive. I'm not concerned about the holes in the As since my truck is black anyway.

Overlay guys: can you still see chrome?

Don’t bother with the overlays. They suck. There are black badges on Amazon that aren’t OEM but are high quality. Look perfect. And very affordable.

Going to have to disagree here. The overlays look and function great from my experience. You just clean the badge and stick them on over the top. I don't see any chrome now with them on and they have lasted a couple years and still holding fine. Only took me a few minutes.

If you totally replace the badge you have to deal with removing the OEM chrome ones, cleaning up leftover adhesive junk, and then trying to perfectly re-align the new black ones. That just sounds like a pain to me and I'm sure it wouldn't quite be in the same spot (because it never is when you don't have the factory jig to place them in the exact precise spot) so it would bother the heck out of me.

Anyway that is just my $0.02 on the subject.

I can see a tiny amount IF and only IF I look for it or know it's there. My OCD kicked in the day I put the overlays on, but common sense over-rode OCD and I left them alone. I get compliments and no one yet has mentioned the tiny bit of Chrome that "I" can see. Advice on install, push down on the top of the letters first to get them set, then the bottom 1/2. The top is where you *might see that tiny amount of chrome.

Thanks guys, seems to be a fair amount of love for the overlays. I figure if Toyota is putting them on new $45k trucks, they must be pretty good.

As a newbie, I'm loving this community. Profile pic to come as soon I get these badges on!

So I bought the overlays. Expensive? Yes. But they took 4 minutes to install and look great. No chrome peeking. Operation black out pretty much done.

Is anyone's rear insert black fading over time?

Just got my brand spankin' new truck yesterday, and I think this is the first little mod I'm going to do.

I zeroed in on these on Amazon for the Rear and the Overlays.

The overlays look solid to me, but there are a lot of reviews that the rear inserts fade over time. Anyone have a better recommend?

I thinking of getting the overlays on amazon and the rear direct from Toyota for $65.

I placed the badge, now im worried rust might form in the nooks and cranny.
