I'm waiting for 4 wheel electric hub drive with a high effeciency micro turbine generator that will run on anything from diesel to perfume. Hoping for around 10,000 ft lbs of torque and about 65-70 miles per gallon. I know a guy that told me 2018.:alien:

No one understands that any diesel made after 2006 is not worth it due to the EPA having basically destroyed the reasons to buy one. Take this from someone who owned a diesel and loved it but would never buy another one unless trump really does eliminate the EPA lol. Look at VW, they tried to get away with tuning their engines to have more power and efficiency but now had to change the tune on them to have less power and less mpg in order to create less pollution. Completely ridiculous, almost like the EPA is working for the oil companies.

True. I had to emissions delete my Ram 2500 to get it to run right and gained some mpg's. Maybe one day you won't have to though. And it's CUMMINS.

Lol you forgot to "bring out the bold" on the 3 letters directly after where you stopped bolding. You know, the 3 letters that insinuated that it was a joke "lol" jeez Hilary have a sense of humor hahaha
    :oldglory:

Yea thats always an option, just sucks to have to buy a brand new truck and immediately need to take crap out of it and flash it and retune it for it to run right. Dont even get me started in the BS that is diesel exhaust fluid lol.

Short and sweet article simply stating that emission standards have ruined diesel engines for us here in states. Such a shame considering diesel is a much more efficient fuel than gasoline. Even when diesel was close to $5 gallon i could justify owning my TDI since it got 45-50mpg every tank and didnt require a battery or any silly emissions crap.

It doesn't matter. There is no mention of politics on the forum, look up the rules. Just saying people have been put on "vacation" even if they were joking around.

Diesels in pickups were a good idea BEFORE the EPA started tightening up the emissions standards. When I retired from driving a semi, the company I worked for had just gotten a couple of new tractors that were experimenting with ways to reduce pollution, including a catalytic converter on a Caterpillar engine. With the tightened standards some of the fuel mileage advantages have been lost
Also, with the new engines, you don't want to run out of DEF somewhere you can't get any, since after a certain time, the engines will not start without the fluid being in the reservoir. The cost difference between diesel fuel and gas is going up again, plus adding in the cost of the DEF, and the additional initial cost of the engine means that most people would have to keep the vehicle 300,000 miles or more just to break even. A properly maintained Tacoma gas engine will do that kind of mileage.
The chances of someone with a Tacoma size truck actually needing that much more torque are so rare that Toyota apparently thinks it's just not worth the development costs to do all the engineering and design work to integrate even a small Cummins diesel into the truck. A Tundra? Maybe.
But, who knows? With enough consumer demand, it could happen.
    Stay tuned...
