2018: Is There Still No Seat Height Adjustment?

I was all hyped up to buy a Gen 3 when they came out in 16 but the lack of seat height adjustment was a deal killer, sadly. I really wanted one too! I'm fairly short and just did not have adequate visibility when driving one. I felt like I was sitting on the floor.

I would have been happy with just a mechanical adjustment which Toyota puts even in their cheapest cars and the Rav, but for some reason they made the conscience decision to skip this very easy and cheap feature in a brand new redesigned Tacoma.

I have the hots for a Tacoma again but before I go calling on dealerships I was wondering if anyone could answer this question for me.

    Thanks

    Ron

How much height do you need? Folks make spacers to go under the rear seat attachment bolts. I made a version that matches shape of the trim covers. There are aluminum versions of it as well as folks printing their own.

A 1in spacer made the seat a lot more comfortable for my wife.

If that helps you, I can link up the threads for these. The files are free, but folks will charge for machining or printing.

I am 5'4 and have no issues with seat height on this truck. I would actually think the seat is too high for very tall folk. I think unless you have a very short torso it should be no problem.

Could the visibility issue maybe be the super bulging hood we have? Even worse with the scoop.

The windshield is very narrow too so if you sit higher you start looking at your visors...

The reason is the cab dimensions are not enough to make the seat with any meaningful adjustability height wise. Look how high the floor is and how little room there is from floor to ceiling in the truck compared to virtually every other vehicle on the road.

    Need a solution!
    Maybe clazzio?
    Maybe afternarket seat?

I'm 5'8/9 and I feel I'm the tallest human possible to fit in this thing. Between the weird jutting out of the lower dash and the seat position, it's a Tetris game. I get in but look like 8 bit Mario doing it

I'm 5'2 and the seating for me is pretty good, but there isn't any option for power seating/adjustment. It would be nice, but for me it isn't a deal breaker. I have seen people use that same 1in spacer and do just fine! Maybe look into that instead of saying no outright

Raising is the easy problem and can be fixed with spacers as others have said.

I wish my seat was a little bit lower as I almost hit my knee on the steering wheel every time I get out of the truck. Really hoping that the seat bottom foam wear a bit flat overtime giving me a little bit more room. Then maybe I will think about getting a set of Clazzios.

    Yeah.
I'm 5'11" and don't have any issues either way, but my wife and oldest daughter are 5'0" and would probably feel too low (but they never drive my trucks). Any taller and I would likely want to relocate the mirror.

I just bought my youngest a Corolla and the seat was set all the way down. It felt a bit low to me, and I didn't realize it had a height adjustment at first. I was considering spacers but figured out the adjustment before getting there. I agree, that same type of adjustment would probably work fine on a Tacoma, not sure why they wouldn't include it. You don't have to use it if you don't need it.

I'd look into those spacers if you really want a Taco.

5'11 and it seems ok for me (with moonroof). My only complaint is the seat. The leather is stiff and also causes a pinch under my leg. Stiffness will fix over time and the pinching is just something I'll have to figure out.

I’m on the other end of the spectrum, at 6’3” I want it to adjust down and have had to learn how to get in and out of the truck. Head first to get under the roof getting in and lean the seat back more than I like to keep head off the roof.

I'm not one for lifts (maybe down the road when the suspension wears), but I do find that getting in and out is easier if I am parked on a surface that is bowled down. Parking on a breakover of any kind is more difficult. So weirldly, a slight lift could help with everything but the seat wear. My solution for that will be some Katskins down the road also.

    I'm 6ft with a long torso.

I'm a solid 6 foot and feel like it is fine. I only wish the ceiling was higher when I try to finish the last sip in my nalgene and the bottle hits the roof before I get that sip.
