Im 6’4 220 and this truck is aweful for headroom. 40k truck and no seat adjustment is ridicules. 12-15k base model cars even have these features. Toyota dropped the ball on this big time.

    ...stuff
Everyone says 40k truck like that means something.

It’s nowhere near the top end of the market. If it were an 80k or 90k truck, then ok.

40k is pretty.... average for a nice well equipped truck. Just saying.

I can’t think of another truck out there that doesn’t offer a more adjustable seat at that price range... it’s ok just to say yeah they could offer a better seat.

Do the ridgelines have adjustable seats?

When a super small base model 2 door camaro offers more seating positions than an off road loaded truck, theres a problem.

I see what you're saying, but just because you've got $40K doesn't mean that the truck is made for you. It's like complaining that a Ferrari doesn't have a good spot for a car seat or the groceries.

A Tacoma is a truck, and trucks aren't "made" for comfort.

Its also the year 2018...not 1955. Adding an adjustable seat that goes up and down is not expensive. Its not so much its a 40k vehicle, its more so that almost any vehicle over 20k regardless of what it is has more adjustablitly.

Now how the hell do you know that? Are you a seat frame designer on the weekends?

That's great. My wife's 20K Ford Fusion has a height adjustable seat. My Tacoma doesn't. Why? My Tacoma isn't a Fusion. It has a high floor for ground clearance and a low roof for lower center of gravity... ie it's not "made" for "comfort," regardless of price.

PS I would argue that a Wrangler is more of a Tacoma competitor than anything else, and dare I say a $40K Rubicon doesn't have height adjustment in the seats either.

    It doesn't matter if its 2018, 1955, or 1918... it's called marketing.

You are exactly right man. Just look at how people are shunning the Tacoma for lack of a 17 way seat adjustment. Just look at the declining sales figu... oh wait.

The two are related. No seat adjustment yet sales continue to increase. As long as people continue to buy these trucks with standard fore and aft seat tracks, Toyota will continue to sell them this way. Marketing.

Right now, the seat is practically sitting on the floor anyway and guys keep complaining about their heads hitting the ceiling.

Perhaps they decided to heck with it, we designed a killer truck but since there’s no room for adjustment anyway we’ll leave that out and just act like that’s what was intended all along. I’ve driven a good number of Tacoma’s but no newer 4Runners aren’t they similar in cabin area, yet the 4Runner offers seating options. It just seems like a seat with more flexibility in positioning would be a simple item to add to a pretty solid product even if it came with additional markup.

One of my fellow engineers worked on a project fro GM for two years. His job was taking cost out of their windshield wiper motors. Two years to
Nope. I traded a new 4Runner on my Tacoma. There is a lot of difference between the cabin design and size. 4Runner is taller.

I posted sales figures because two things:
    1. As long as people keep buying them Toyota won't change and
    2. The sales increase show that, while people on this forum think something is a widespread problem, it must not be as sales just continue to increase.

I suspect it would require an entire vehicle redesign. As it is the cab isn't very roomy anyway... people that want height variations are going to get incremental improvements at best.

There's no such thing as a product designed for "everyone" as it is simply impractical to do so. Tacomas get sold to a specific target market just like everything else. It's hard for my wife to drive my truck comfortably and that's okay because a) she hates driving it and b) it was never designed or built to appeal to someone like her anyway.

the number of people bitching about the lack of a seat height adjustment is proportional to the number of people bitching about their head touching the ceiling of a truck with a sunroof. i'm no math magician, but i'd venture a guess that everyone bitching is an outlier and that probably 75% of the taco owners are in the perfect range of the seat being high enough for them to see, but low enough for their heads to not hit the ceiling.

you're too tall for the truck... what do you want them to do? allow you to lower it so your ass hangs out the bottom? your options are to recline it more OR take it to an upholstery shop to have them shave down the padding in the seat to allow you to sit lower.
