Hello all, I recently acquired a new-to-me 2018 Tacoma SR5 which I'm absolutely loving so far. I went camping today and unfortunately misjudged a turn and ended up smacking into a stump. I was wondering what you guys think the best way to fix this is? I definitely don't need it to be perfect as I plan to take this truck into the woods a lot and expect to get dings over the life of the vehicle, but I just want the big dents out. Anyone ever get similar damage repaired professionally? If so how much did it cost you?

Swing by a few body shops for quotes in your area. Also, get some sliders :anonymous:

Trust me, sliders are on the long list of many things that I plan to do with this truck, definitely much higher on the list now haha.

If you pull the door panel off you might be able to pound it out with a hammer and a small enough piece of wood.

Try to find a PDR person near you. I have good luck with that, granted my dents were smaller than this.

Hammer and wood... I remember those days. I’m pretty sure my stepfather and I had at least 48” of 2x4 through the taillight opening in my ‘72 El Camino trying to ease out some body dimples forward of the rear wheels. It helped some.

Im not sure how well this would work but I had a mobile guy who used this on a dent I had on my truck when I hit a mailbox and it pulled the dent right back out.
    Might be worth a try.

That’s a tough spot to pop or pull anything. I believe they use a harder material or atleast coat under the crease in door. If it’s like the rear bumper gonna need to replace the panel. But if you want to try boil the door panel from inside see if you can get acccesss to it from
There. If so boil some water and pour it on then try to pop it. I honestly think you may be better off just paying for the replacement of going your insurance route and paying deductible. I wouldn’t be able to do it but people will say it’s a truck leave it!

If you can get to it from inside, block o’ wood and hammer then bondo the imperfections after and repaint.. or dent-puller from the outside.. or if you dont wanna theres always the body shops.

check with your dealer, their USED vehicle guys probably know a Paintless Dent Repair guy that can get your dent out (mostly, they used heatlamps to softent he paint so it wont chip when taking out the creases.. dont try this yourself or you risk chipping, or flaking off your paint, and it makes it a more expensive repair... Ive watch a few videos on youtube of PDR, and am amazed at what they can get out with simple tools, and LOTS of patience, and skill. its all about knowing how to work with steel how it stretches, and constricts, how paint handles heat, and its flexibility.. various methods for all panels, and areas of a car.
