New to the forum, sorry if this has been covered.

I have an ‘18 OR with the TSS and swapped the Grille out at my local Toyota Dealer to the OEM TRD Pro Grille for the ‘18s. I had the Grille installed by Toyota about a week ago and it has the cutout for the TSS, the Grille garnish plate was on backorder but came in yesterday. It seemed like a pretty straight forward install (snaps into Grille) so without much thought I just popped it in. The problem is that the upper portion of the garnish is loose. It is not in danger of falling out but it definitely moves back and forth while driving. I’m wondering if anyone else is having this issue? Or if anyone took their time while snapping it on and can let me know if I missed something. I also cannot easily remove the garnish, I haven’t forced it much because I’d rather not break it. The top releases fairly easily but the bottom will not

It is a little difficult to see but if you look closely at the top portion of the garnish you can see it is slanted inward here
image.jpgBelow it is in its normal position flush with the bottom and with the Grille
    image.jpg

It moves freely between those two positions

If I am not mistaken there are some Star Washer Retainers that hold it secure.

Yeah, it’s got star washers on it to hold it tight.

Did you install these on the top posts? I pushed them on with a deep socket while also pushing on the front.

I just installed my grille today. The OEM garnish was pre-installed. The top tilts backwards a bit as in your first photo. It is tight as there are two star washers on the back. When the washers are in place and the garnish is tight, the garnish is not "flush" but tilted back at the top. I think this is normal ... The star washers go over the two nubbins that protrude into the grille at the "top"... the bottom of the garnish are "snap in tabs", so there really is no play backward or forward at the bottom. But when the star washers are in place, the top tilts back... at least that is the way it appears on mine. BTW, the TSS works just fine.

Hold the front side of the Garnish with one hand and push the washer on to the post on the back side using a 10mm DEEP socket (I think that was the size, if not get the right size) until it bottoms out.

BTW. The garnish should sit in more at the top than at the bottom - that's OEM.

I recently noticed this on my grill, I went to the dealer since they had 3 pros on the lot. All 3 had the garnish tilted like this.
