Will there ever be a diesel engine option for Tundra?

There is definitely consideration. We’re considering it for more than just Tundra and Tacoma. At this point, there has not been a finalized plan to go forward, but diesel is definitely an option that we are considering for implementation on multiple products.

    Literal fake news.

"Also, we would like to mention that the company is preparing a completely new trim called TRD Pro."

It's almost been 2 weeks since a diesel Tacoma thread popped up. Headed towards record territory.

“How many times you’ve heard that the all-new Toyota Tacoma Diesel is arriving in North America? Countless, we suppose? In the last few months the rumors are even louder. Apparently, Toyota has finally decided to change some rules in the mid-size truck world and present its model with a turbodiesel engine. This move was quite logical since the USA government gave up on the Paris climate agreement.”

    Lots of sail boat fuel
If they didn't bring it over when regulations were easy , why now? It'd only be a last ditch choice only if the new ranger, Jeep pickup and bronco start stealing the market. Not holding my breath on any of that.

The Paris agreement would have no impact to Toyota’s descision to put a diesel in the Taco. Even if it did, it would take years to develop, test and go through the federal red tape to get one into production.

Anyone can create a site and put advertisements on it. By linking to it, you're giving it clicks, making it more lucrative to post false information. That's why you're seeing rumors. Until Toyota has a press conference on it, don't believe it.

I heard that there have been discussions lately, of a diesel option. Apparently they are upset that the bread and butter Tacoma is losing market share, since one other manufacturer have diesel options in their mid sized trucks (Colorado), and the Ranger is coming back.

Yet they still rebuffed to acknowledge what the consumer wants. Talk with your wallets, and they will listen. They already regularly get free information from the users here.

Are you sure? Tacoma sales are up 30 percent over the previous year. They had their best sales month ever and they're creating a 3rd production plant. That all points to success of the current platform if you ask me.

Yup. I am. You should also see how high their warranty percentage is in regards to the 3rd gen alone. Only reason why those discussions are even taking place.

If they're really worried about market share, would they be creating a 3rd plant? I would assume no.
