I legitimately think the only way it could even compete with the Tacoma is if it had a good off-road package that beat the TRD OR. It would have to come stock with expensive features- like lockers- and even then, who knows if it still rides like poop.

I'm telling you right now, on my 1st Gen, my dad's 60 and the first time he sat in my Tacoma with OME Suspension Upgrade and 33's he goes "man, this thing rides awesome for everything you've done to it! Doesn't exactly right like the "off-road Accord" but it's damn good for what it is.

You know how these lists are, probably rate the Jeep bad because it has a rough ride and doesn't drive like a car.

Lol, this is the most erroneous thing I have read all day.

If Toyota continues to build their trucks with inferior materials and lack of quality craftsmanship (much like how the current 2nd to 3rd gen jump has been) the 4th gen Taco will be trumped by the 3rd gen easily. Much like the latter.

EDIT: This post is @smitty99 approved.

And this is how Chrysler survives, they have more imagination and balls than the rest of the auto manufacturers combined. Unfortunately they don't know how to build a vehicle that will last a reasonable amount of time.

Once the 4th gen rolls out production ceases on the 3rd gen effectively killing that model run. Previous generations will never stop the production of the follow on.

How simple do I need to make it for you and @smitty99?

Now more choices from different manufacturers will eat into sales of the Taco but the 3rd gen will likely not be the last midsized truck from Toyota even if it does slip to 2, 3 or 4 in sales. If that WERE to happen you can definately expect an improved 4th gen to kill the 3rd gen.

I'm pickin up what you're putting down.

It may had helped to specify a little more home slice. Since this thread somehow got into reliability before you posted you see where the mix up in confusion came from.

Cost-cutting is not a Toyota fad, it's an industry-wide thing that has been going on for decades and will continue. If you think Chrysler products are ever going to surpass Toyota products in quality or workmanship... well, I've got a few bridges I'd like to sell you.

Sales are the only thing that matters, and the 3rd gen Tacoma dominates all competition. It would take nothing short of a miracle for any other manufacturer to catch up to Tacoma sales, much less surpass them. Sure, a few hardcore enthusiasts might jump ship for something that appeals to them better, but they will be an insignificant drop in the ocean.

Fact of the matter is there's nothing better than the 3rd gen Tacoma on the market (and that includes antiquated 2nd gens), and won't be for a while.

If Jeep puts that Jeep into production with a Rubicon model and removable top and diesel engine I will dump the Taco

My original quote was the 9th post in this topic, no reliability talk at all in the previous 8.

Chew on that awhile before you quote for content "friend".
