I didn’t buy one, as you can see but it’s a great vehicle. Just ugly as hell.

Truck was mostly great, I was just upset at the lack of accountability that Nissan has and less than honest treatment about the whole situation. Truck is definitely outdated though, been over due for an update for a while now

OH MY GOD I WENT THROUGH THE SAME EXACT THING.

Had a 2007 Nissan Frontier nismo edition. Babied the hell out of that thing, at 105K miles it starts shifting weird and driving sluggish. Took it in to get it looked at by a qualified friend/shop owner/mechanic after getting the complete run around at the dealership. The dealership said I needed a transmission flush and quoted me $X00. I did the transmission flush and it didn’t fix anything. My guy said the words “strawberry milkshake” as soon as he took it to test drive, and this was in 2011, so it was well known at the time to people that were seeing/fixing these problems. Opens the hood and shows me the “pink milkshake of death” I ended up needing an entire transmission and parts for the cooling system as well.

Called Nissan, they laughed me out of the dealership and off the phone. Was a 6000 repair. I will NEVER ever buy a Nissan again, I won’t even take them as a rental. Garbage company. Garbage product.

It’s a well known and well documented problem, but Nissan refuses to acknowledge it or cover costs/assist in costs. Garbage indeed. Sorry both of you had the same issue, but at least we drive Tacomas now.

Nissan got sued for that tranny/radiator issue. I think they ended up extending the warranty for this specific issue. Of course mine was out of the extended mileage limit anyways.

mine also ate u joints like candy bars (every 15k miles) and started throwing an oil pressure light before I finally sold it. Dumpster fire of a purchase but a mistake I’ll only make once.

Actually it's a well known and documented problem in the Toyota 3400 engines of the 4Runner and Tacoma as well. Ask me how I know.

When I got my 99 T4R last year, first thing I did was add a tranny cooler and bypass the rad. Many vehicle manufacturers have this single point of failure as well.

My 3rd gen Tacoma is not susceptible to this however...MT

It’s funny... I had a 93 4Runner with the 3400, engine kept blowing through head gaskets and losing engine compression, tail gate would get covered in pure gasoline. (Known problem as you said). I had the engine rebuilt 5 times in 2 years. Finally I said enough, and got the frontier. I wanted a Tacoma but this was back in 2008, I couldn’t afford it yet so the frontier was the best option. I wish I knew what I know now haha

Does it still have cheesy thin armrests and the accordion roll back center console? I hated those.

I think it’s great for people that mainly want a minivan but also might need a bed for their weekend trips to the local nursery.

I kid you not my wife said it looks like a vehicle someone with a small di** would drive.

I never knew there was a vehicle that could actually take inches off a man but apparently the RL is that vehicle.

I saw The Fast Lane Truck (I think?) take one offroad a while back and was fairly impressed. The Honda rep was even talking it up to be better offroad than the Tacoma (to the point of being obnoxious). I would never buy one. The styling leaves a lot to be desired, and if I remember correctly, there weren't any options to lift it? (and it's pretty low as is)

You mean this video? Where at the 15:00 mark the “truck” overheats and can’t continue on a mild rocky trail?
