2020 doesn't have the bed side compartment on the driver's side?

My '16 (short bed) had the compartments in the bed on the left and the right. New truck (long bed) only has the compartment on the right. Bed size thing or did they do away with the drivers side compartment altogether?

Kinda bummed, that's where I kept a hank of rope and some additional ratchet straps. Oh well.

It was gone in 2019 for both bed sizes.

Yes I liked having 2 pockets to keep straps & rope in now they only give you 1 little so can’t carry more stupid if you ask me to not leave both for people who like to use them and they got rid of normal spare tires gage me 16” not even a 17” to match the 17” that come with my truck so had to buy a 17” spare & put the same tire as what I have on my truck shit like that bothers me so took care of it Toyota is cheeping out for this kind of crap & charging lots of $ for there trucks

You just popped something into my brain. When I bought my new truck, I had pretty much brand new wrangler duratracs on my old one. I had the dealership swap the rims and tires, so my truck's on 17's now, where it normally would have been on 16's. I bet I have a useless spare tire under there now... Unless it's safe to mix and match a rim in an emergency (tires are the same overall size), of which I have no idea.

It is completely fine. The only important thing, if you have a slightly different overall diameter spare, is to not use 4wd as it will bind up.

Mixing 16in and 17in wheels with the same overall diameter does not matter.

I am currently running 265/70R17 AT tires and have the OE 265/65R17 spare. I also carry a plug kit in our vehicles just in case. We have had two flats away from home in 30yrs.

Good to know, thanks. I mean it makes sense in theory that it should be fine on an open diff, but I'm no rotational mass expert, that's for sure.

I further edited my post, as I'm a bad typist and rabid editer.

Yes. With open diffs, there is no worry. For example, look at the extreme diameter difference on the space saver spares that come with cars. For the short time that a spare would be on the Taco, there is no issue.

My GF drives a Ford Escape and had a flat a few weeks ago. It has that wimpy little donut tire. I guess I should have thought of that. Car sure didn't like that thing on there, especially being all wheel drive, but it didn't explode.

And eyyy, Lynnwood. I lived in Mill Creek for a while.

No worries. There is such a thing as stupid question. Yours certainly weren't.

The couple times that I experiences the space savers spares, I did not like it either. It was motivation to get the tire fixed for sure.

Nice! It is a nice area if you can find some elbow room. We moved to Lynnwood in 2006 and are now hoping to get to somewhere with a bit more space. Nothing really happening yet though, other than thinning out the stuff that we collected over the years.

My truck came with 17” from the factory but what they do is put a 16” steel with a tire that has the same height as the 17” & not same brand of tire like they use to do in the past so I bought a 17” steel wheel with same tire to match so that takes care of that BS I sold the 16” spare on CL for the same what I paid for the 17” spare problem solved
