    Hey guys,

I wont be selling my tacoma, I will prob just leave it in hawaii while we spend time on the mainland, so please no haters lol..

OK, so this is what the gladiator looks like, they have two of them here on my island for the filming Hobbs & Shaw

Question to you guys, do you think its going to be the tacoma killer? So you think allot of us will make the switch?

I doubt it man honestly. I understand it’s capable, but it’s not very visually appealing in my opinion. Looks aren’t everything, but it is a part of some people’s decision to buy, that’s why our trucks are not only capable, but most of us actually like their looks as well (as you can tell by how we like show them off)! But if you like it, go for it and enjoy it!

I see a grey one in Kaneohe driving one not like those. I actually like the look of it as a former Jeep owner (1992 tj 1993 tj). I would so buy if they weren’t made by fiat Chrysler

I almost would. I say almost because is still miss the old inline 6. Such a great torquey motor. I had a 89’ and a 99’ Cherokee and I loved those things, every newer Jeep had those stupid v6 that just ruined it.

    YJ's :D

My love for Jeep stopped in 07 when the JK came out. To me, Jeeps use to be a simple man's vehicle. It was a no frills, utilitarian vehicle. The 4 door brought in a whole new crowd of people that are more concerned with power seats, leather interior, electronic this and that, etc. I drove a 2002 TJ with the 4.0 I6 for 9yrs. It had 215K when I got rear ended at a red light by a F150 that never checked up, and he totaled it.

As a business plan, the 4 door brought in a shit ton of new buyers that aren't necessarily "Jeep" people and probably saved the Wrangler....just my .02

I def not trading in my 15 OR. I would like to see a 2 door instead of a four door.

    No.

Well, of course there will be owners who make the switch. But that's not what you asked. You asked 'Tacoma killer'.

Think of the tens of thousands of Tacomas sold. Very few (% wise) are bought for hard off road use. And they aren't TW members.

Most are being bought for lush 2nd vehicles that have 4wd for foul weather duty, trips to HD and light towing work. Soccer dads if you will. The Jeep will only attract them if they are trying to up their mall crawling image, are willing to spend more money, give up comfort and sacrifice reliability to by owning a Fiat-Chrysler.

    I'm a Jeep guy, but I wouldn't own one if I wanted a truck.

It will sell, but not many to traditional truck owners. Jeep owner's put up with a lot of quality/creature comfort/driveability compromises because what else is available that you can take the doors/roof off (even though the majority never do)? And as was mentioned above, Fiat Chrysler is not a selling point. The panel gaps/leaky roof/crude interior materials are things you put up with as part of owning a TJ/YJ/JK Jeep. Not many traditional truck buyers are going to tolerate that nonsense.

As a truck owner than needs a truck to haul/tow with capable 4 wheel drive, I've thought to myself, "hmmm, sure wish I could take the doors and roof off" exactly zero times. They'll sell them because of the cool factor/rugged image, but not to traditional truck buyers. The "overlander look" community has been abuzz about it for over a year, as have the aftermarket manufacturers who smell money a mile away.

    Scratches, dents, lots of squeaks.
Still a heap made with heap quality parts. Some will transition. Most will not imo

I have a couple of friends that want to pick it up but the price is ridiculous. I feel like people are going to be paying more for less. Also looks as though you'll be saying goodbye to any room. I honestly haven't really looked at the truck much though due to lack of interest so I don't know exactly what it'll offer but I know for sure its going to be a hot item for a little bit. I guess only time will tell and I don't think times going to work too well for the gladiator.

I can't believe a Rubicon is now 60K. Like I said, Jeep lost me with the introduction of the JK and outrageous prices.

Yeah blows my mind as well. Whats sad too is people will pour buckets of money on them and then trade them in for like 30k. I missed a kitted out one by like a month. One year old with different axles, tires, both lockers, winch, bumpers and some other knick knacks.
