My intent is to just raise the seats slightly if it is only an inch or so of clearance needed.

    bettledude,
thank you for that great write up. It seems the "unnamable" add an amp harness that I recently purchased for my 2020 has the pair of purple wires for the sub signal paired with the hu output "white speaker wires" inwhich I believe is one of the front speakers(fL). All need to do is splice in a pair of wires for the fR to connect to the Key500.1. D@mn just match the wire colors up, I had gotten confused how I'd do the wiring until I saw this thread.

That’s weird. The one I ordered like 6 months ago had the sub tapped into the purple wires (one of the rear speakers). Maybe they realized they were idiots for doing that and redesigned it. Haha

I'm wondering if you changed out your speakers also? I have the Focal plug and play front components already, just wondering how well the stock rear speakers would take that 50w.

yeah. the stock speakers take the big black amp no problems. just flat and no treble. the sound is full in back. I have kickers 6.75 all ready to go. I may plug them in. I may add those kicker tweeters because I like a high note which i’m not getting feom the kicker 6x9. I also like classical opera music too

yes I changed out the speakers as well. changing out the rears will likely help fill the sound stage. be aware though that the stock deck puts out very little signal to the rears. You may need to adjust the gain on the amp to find a good balance. (if you just set the front and rear to the same gain level you will most likely find the rear output to be unacceptably low).

Alright, thanks for the reply. Yeah I've noticed, and seen threads about the low output to the rear. I'm on the fence about which direction to go for an amp, and whether or not I bother amping and replacing the rear speakers, or just biamp the fronts.

just finished the install, ran into the same problem, had to turn up the volume to ~43 on my 2020 hu as it failed to give me the Happy Song. The instructions is kind of vague mentioning to turn up the volume above normal conversation level or something in the lines of that. Another problem if I could call it that was with the gain setting on Amp1 at 3/4 volume(#45 out of max. 60) the gain led indicator was already on using the test tone 5Star Audio guy recommended(kicker keyloc) and having to lower the volume ~ to 43 and it didn't take much Amp1 gain to set off the led indicator.

Beetledude, did you happen snap pics of your harness before installing?

I have all my gear in hand, but still awaiting the TT add a sub harness. Set to arrive Saturday.

Probably spend Saturday installing all the new speakers and Sunday working on the amp install.

Should be straightforward, but pics help as I haven't done a stereo install in 15 years!

    Thanks in advance.

OK, im just now jumping into this install. When ordering your TT sub harness, did you order with or without the remote turn on option? I know with the Key amp that you can use the speaker signal to turn the amp on, but is there any utility to having the harness with the wire there?

Got my amp and harnesses and planning this out but have a couple questions. 1. What is the smaller harness for with the red yellow and white wires ? 2. If I install amp under drivers seat will I be able to fit all wires and a 8 or 10 gauge 12 volt under the door kick plate or will I need to route down the center council ?

My amp is on the way but I had planned to put it in the dash. Since you have it in hand does it look like it will fit in the dash? I’m assuming you have the kicker key amp.

The amp is tiny. I’m not sure how easily it would fit behind the HU, but it will fit to the right of it (right above the glovebox behind the valence).

Not sure, I haven't had stereo out of dash yet but it's small for sure.

    1. The harness with the red, yellow, and white wires is for the remote turn on. You do not really need it, but depends on your install.

    2. Depends on the harness you ordered. The TT Add and Sub is not long enough to mount under the seat. The Add an Amp I think will allow it. The amp will fit behind the HU with plenty of room left...at least in my 2022.
