I have a 2020 Tacoma with a little over 6,000 miles. I got under the hood today and noticed that my coolant is nearly 2/3 gone. I just had a 5,000 mile service where I would assume it was refilled.

The truck runs fine, no issues with temps or anything else. Should I be concerned I saw no evidence of a leak. It was not running and it is 30 degrees outside. It wasn't down to the LOW mark but it wasn't far off.

    Thanks

It's a low and full, but it fluctuates. I never want the coolant near full because of expansion when its warm. I personally like 2/3rds.

You're right it should be higher, but its not dire.

Mine tends to stay right at half or so in the overflow, maybe a little more, and the radiator is full every time I’ve ever checked it.

I’m the only one doing maintenance and owned it for 2 years and I have never added coolant.

As long as you’re not seeing leaks on the driveway (it’s red so it should be easy to spot), you are likely fine. Add a little if it makes you feel better but as someone else said, leave some expansion room in the tank.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Read your owner's manual before panicking.

Actually the plastic underhood canister (expansion tank is another name) is what you are seeing low.

If your coolant in the system were 2/3 gone you'd be having a hot time in the old town tonight.

Check it at operating temp. If it's 30* out, it will show low if engine is cold.
