Your harness looks like an xrunnerdude which should have come with them, perhaps check the box/bag?

 

So putting the new assembly in is being a bit of a challenge for me. Is there easy way to put back in? Feel like im gonna scratch the hell out of it and the paint trying to put it in.

Whew! Got it in! Had to bend that lower bumper piece and use a little force.

 

I have the caps, got it on the extra wire, ty.

 

I also found that part to be a bit more effort than I expected, and I managed to put a small scratch in mine doing it. I think once you've done one pair you are all set for the next pair so it's a bummer we're all doing one-and-done.

Also, the headlight trim panels are a fun thing to do with this since the bumper is down but if you didn't already order them up then this is really poor timing to mention them

 

It's working! Adjustment doesn't seem to be needed? Drivers side should be faster since i know the feel for things now.

Can someone answer the following as I'm seriously considering going OEM LED route soon.

1. Am I wrong in thinking that there's actually 2 models of the LED headlights? the first being the TRD pro version with the pro badging inside the lens and the other being the standard version that's optioned on the TRD premium packages? If that's so, does anyone have access to the different part #'s for these?

2. I see a lot of people referring to these lights as "LED low beams" are they not dual beam headlights with a built in high beam that's also LED???

3. I messaged the guy who used to make the "best harness ever" for these on instagram and I've had no response.. anyone gotten any from him recently? If i decide to go morimoto harness have they fixed the polarity issue yet?

OK, not all. Yes the OEM LED assemblies use LED emitters and reflectors for both the high beams and the low beams as you might expect.

 

Sorry, that blows. But, great chance to get some nighttime shots to compare with various halogen bulbs. I wanted to do that but couldn’t bring myself to put the bumper back up without doing both sides.

Yup, I had everything ready to install too, when i put the light in, i was like nooooooo!!! Found the tab in the box, fml. I guess my fault for not checking first. I am super annoyed and tired right now lol.

And just got email saying my sirius xm trial ended haha.

I sure wish I had a means to buy one of these broken tab LED headlights for my test harness. If the dealer you bought them from doesn't require you to ship them back, hit me up. I think they mostly take them back, get credit from Toyota, and they end up in a trash bin which is a shame.

 

If they don't ask for it back, i will gladly donate it to you for your testing.

 

What you guys think of repairing tabs? This guy does the Tacoma headlights.

 

It’s definitely doable. @no vtec 4me has done it a bunch.

but for brand new full price merch packed poorly, I’d consider that not your problem.

 

For sure i wouldn't attempt that . Just curious if the repair would last.

 

I fix broken tabs all the time and never have an issue with them failing. They need to be plastic welded. Most people just try using epoxy or something to glue them together and that never lasts.

 

They are requiring me to send it back. They said they won't be able to order another for me, and to find it locally. I wonder if it's back ordered now, or they don't want to risk another damaged headlight to me...

 

Yeah, I assume something this valuable would require return shipping.

Totally sucks they are leaving you in a lurch though, wtf, they should refund you shipping both ways in that situation? Sorry dude, this situation really blows for you.
